I mentioned my computer simulation football league in another thread...well, I've since joined two others. I like one of my team names, the Montana Grizzlies, but I didn't like the other two. The rules state that the team can be named after any city, state, county province, or region, and use any mascot, as any professional, college, or high school from any era. I changed one of my teams to the "Battle Creek Apocalypse." Suggestions for the other?

Guess they forgot to tell Bill Buckley.

The Univ of Cal at Santa Cruz' mascot is the banana slug!! It would be fun to see them actually win. Lynn

USC's mascot is Traveler: a grey Andalusian horse. He's awesome!

(Full Disclosure: my horse, Khaleel, a grey Arabian, is the spitting image of Traveler.)

Dan: are you looking for a mascot, or a team name?

Personally, I hate team names that are singular; teams should be plural.

How about the Königsberg Bridges?

One of America's greatest general's horse was Traveller (with two ells) Smile

What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it's all about? Smile

My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums.

Schrödinger's cats. Before the game starts, they can be considered to have both won and lost.

I'm familiar with General Lee's horse (with, as you say, 2 ells). We was an American Saddlebred.

USC's mascots over the years have been various breeds: Arabian, Andalusian, Tennessee Walker, and some mixed breeds.

My grey Arab is the spitting image of Traveler.

Here is a link to some weird ones, especially the mascot of the Rhode Island School of Design:

TCU's Horned Frog!
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

In Los Angeles, Thomas Jefferson High School's team name is the "Democrats." The mascot is a "democrat," a guy in a Yankee Doodle type suit. (Note: President Jefferson was NOT a member of the democratic party)
In Anaheim, Cornelia Connelly High School mascot are the "Koalas."
Of all the schools I have taught at the best team name/mascot is my current school. The Middle College High School of Santa Ana team name and mascot are, "The Wizards!" The obvious character is a bearded fellow in a pointy hat and a robe. I added the fireball shooting wand to the effect.
Magic is like Science,
Both are fun if you do it right!
