So I was thinking what 5 Christmas movies do you think are the best. Obviously this is totally opinion but I am curios what people think.

1. A Christmas story, this is just such a perfect movie.
2. Christmas Vacation, chevy chase was so great as Clark W. Griswald
3. Trading Places, this is actually a Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years movie.
4. Gremlins, how can you not love it.
5. Scrooged, Bill Murray nuff said.

A Christmas Carol, AKA Scrooge, with Alastair Sim (1951).
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

If we're going that far back than "It's a Wonderful Life" and "Miracle on 34th Street" (the original) have to be on there.

I'm not sure why they keep remaking this. IMO, the 1951 version just can't be improved upon.

Art Carney portrays Santa Claus in The Night They Saved Christmas. While not a great movie, the scene in which Jaclyn Smith realizes that Art Carney is actually Santa can bring a tear to your eye.

I wouldn't have chosen any of the Op's titles, but I'm guessing that I'm probably a lot older than he.

In addition to It's A Wonderful Life and Miracle on 34th Street, I'd add The Bishop's Wife.

In my humble opinion, the two best movie versions of A Christmas Carol star, respectively,
  • George C. Scott
  • The Muppets

The TV movie version staring Mr. Magoo is also quite good.

Can we take seriously any list that doesn't include Bad Santa?

Guess they forgot to tell Bill Buckley.

Although not completely about Christmas, these have strong Christmas themes within and both are exceptional films:

1. Holiday Inn
2. Meet Me In St. Louis

Yes, I know.

The question was about each persons favorite.

I love Christmas Story, Bad Santa, and Elf.
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

I love and watch "The Cheaters" (1945) every year. It's the best Christmas movie you never heard of.
