With one in six Americans in dire poverty, do you think it's frugal to spend $50,000.00 or more for a prisoners sex change?
I've had close friends that have had sexual reassignment surgery for almost 30 years. They say that Bruce Jenner has spent almost $4 million so far. It is possible he may now go to prison. Had he waited (And maybe the job isn't quite done yet) do you think it is fair that WE the taxpayers pay for this? https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/to-y......y-works/

I think it would be more frugal to release prisoners who are imprisoned for victimless crimes like smoking weed or being drug addicted. Why don't we start there.

It is my view that all drug addicts and politicians should be sentenced to sex changes.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

We toss away $1.5 trillion on a fantasy fighter jet, and you're worried about prisoner health care costs? That's like cancelling your $2 a month long distance phone service to help with the budget, while ignoring the $135 a month membership fee you pay to the gym you went to once, last January.

While I'm all for prisoners receiving high quality health care, I don't think tax money should be used to pay for gender reassignment surgery.
ALL tax money should only go to pay for things that benefit all, equally. Or so the story goes. Preventive care, maintenance, treatment, necessary surgery and procedures? Absolutely. Elective surgery and procedures? No. Overworked's point is also very valid, as is EsnRedshirts. We could use some federal enforcement guidelines, since allowing the states to interpret punishment isn't working. When one person can go to jail for 10-15 years for minor possession in one part of the country; while another person draws only a small fine and/or short probation for the same crime in another part of the same country, there's a problem. When you already have an overwhelming preponderance of might, in both quantity and quality, I think it's fair to ask should so much money be spent on more? I think most people would say that these are all examples of tax money being wasted, and would rather it be spent on things that are actually important. Not that what most people would say really matters anymore.
If you need fear to enforce your beliefs, then your beliefs are worthless.
