Hi everyone, I already use a hand washing technique for concealing a single coin. Can someone give me a reference for a method of showing both hands empty while concealing multiple coins? Ideally, I'd like to conceal four silver dollars.

One of my transfers was published in Apocalypse way back when. It was developed for use in the Cylinder and Coins trick and takes coins from thumbpalm in one hand over to fingerpalm in the other hand.

You could use the secret hand to hand transfer that Ross Bertram uses in Passing the Halfbucks in Stars of Magic. It is also described in Vol 7 of Tarbell under the name The Travelers. I've used it with 3 Silver Dollars but I suppose you could use more. It is a one time move but each hand will be shown empty once.

Gary Kurtz has one that starts in Classic palm in one hand and ends in finger palm of the other. You can see this on David Neighbors video "The Coinjurer"

For multiple coins I like the Thumb Crotch Palm to fingerpalm transfer as taught in Gary Kurtz' book.
To see what it looks like watch what I do with my hands after all the coins vanish (right before I go into the reproduction phase) of this video. I use a mutliple coin transfer. Jon, is this similar to yours? Are you in thumb palm or thumb crotch palm? |

Try using the Ramsay Subtlety...it don't get any cleaner than that!

First I bet Mike has some multiple coin transfer work.
The Ramsay subtlety is NOT a crutch. It's supposed to be a subtle display, not a proving move My transfer works from both versions of thumb palm, as sometimes I would grab the coins out edgewise in routine. It's kind of a backward version of the Ramsay Thimble transfer. Feels funny to put it that way but at the time I was learning all the stuff in 'legend' so I might have been inspired there.

By the way, I love Twist, Wave, and Toss! Also, as far as hand-washing techniques go, my favorite is Wiped Clean, found in Dan's very own Coinvanish manuscript, although I don't know if it can be done with multiple coins. For a single coin, though, you can't beat it. |

The specific Wiped Clean technique I employ is published as “Wiped Clean #1” in Michael Ammar’s book. Modifications to the technique are taught in David Stone’s video Basic Coin Magic Volume 2 video wherein he credits Gérard Alexandre with modifications to the one in Ammar's book. I use the modified wiped clean from Stone's video.
It is generally only good for one coin. This wipe borders on being "over proving". I really liked the look of it when I originally learned it, though more recently I find myself starting to lean more toward the quicker aquitments such as used in "Twist Wave & Toss" As for thumb crotch palm, it is different than edge palm. The coins are held flat against the first phallanx of the thumb and are gripped by the fist and second knuckles of the thumb. It is also sometimes know as "an old style thumb palm". Thumb crotch palm is the name Kurtz used for it. |

Why yes Jonathan...I do;). But it is in the act of transfering another coin or a wand or a glas...etc. I would never do it "empty" handed. I've yet to see a hand to hand transfer or a hand wash that appealed to me! For the most...they scream out "look how clever I can be"!!! Mike |

Page 17 of Tubtumping (plug) has a multicoin transfer from one hand's edge grip (or curl palm or "nowhere" palm) to the other hand's finger palm. It's dead easy (relatively speaking), silent and natural.
It's not a handwashing, it's a transfer called "Unloading The Shuttle" in which you perform a shuttle pass to show both hands empty while concealing multiple coins. It works with coins of different types because the shuttled coin is the only in in view... no switch is made. |
