It'll be all over the news soon.

Nine were German tourists.

No prize for guessing what he blew himself up for.

Where are we headed with all this? Smile

A reckoning.

Not this time.

It's more like the slamming door.

It's a slamming door if all humanity perishes.
You can destroy your Huns, your Nazis, your ISILs, your whatever...
A new batch of murderous ***s will always arise to replace them.

Eating two strips of bacon a day reduces your chances of being a suicide bomber by 100%.

Agreed unless, we, as a race, have an honest conversation about what informs the actions of extremists of ALL types.

But we'd rather bicker about the symptoms than search for the cause.

And so the beat(ings) go on.

And always will.
Even if you have a "settled" group with "common cause," they will eventually break into factions, and the problem begins again.

So.....we're doomed?

Game over?

No chance?

Ultimately--you've got it!

If humanity doesn't destroy itself, the sun will still eventually go supernova.

If we, as a species, escape the entire galaxy, the universe will still accelerate until it unravels at the molecular level.

Mind you, we're talking billions of years, but we are all still "running a treadmill to nowhere" as far as the final scenario goes.

Sadly, yes.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

Perhaps we've found the one thing we all agree on. Sadly.
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.--Yeats

Uh, no. I don't agree that it's always has to be that way.

Sorry.

It doesn't HAVE to be that way, but human history and current events indicate it almost certainly WILL.
History shows that no matter how civilized human society becomes, one "mad dog" can throw it into a tailspin.

Fretting over the misguided actions of a few seems an approved distraction for the many.

Do you want the neighbors to help with local security?

Why is it that in all other aspects of our lives we learn from history, and learn quickly, except morality?

If morality informs actions, AND the vast majority of people are "good", how is it that throughout history one "mad dog"(I like that) has been able to get large numbers of people to go against their basic nature?

What does the mad dog infect the basically good people with that causes them to hate, fear and kill?

We do learn from history, that's apparent. So what are we taught concerning moral action that's preventing us from learning the most important lessons of all?

When I ask these questions I'm usually greeted by blank looks, hostility (for some reason), or derisive dismissal. Since I never seem to get real answers I ask repeatedly, with the hope, curiosity, and determination of a three year old.

Yes it is, and part of the "distraction" keeps us from acknowledging that most of the problems, that we don't solve, are connected.

"Misguided actions"? Perhaps the credulous acceptance of the "guidance" prevents us from asking if the guidance is inherently flawed, and thus useless at best, divisive and destructive at worst.

No, I want to have a world where we don't keep dealing with the same, ever escalating problems, from recurring because we don't pass down incorrect, flawed thinking processes. Then we might reach a place where you're question can't be asked because the basis of it won't exist.

You must first deal with humanity's biggest failing; also one of its prime motivators: the will to POWER.

Good luck with taming that.
