I collect card to box variants. Over the last 20 years, I have experimented and performed with versions by Kennedy, Kohler, Gertner, Allen, Wonder and a few others. Last year, the new trend was clear boxes. Jonathan Kamm is a real world worker and has come up with a very unique solution that answers all the usual questions magicians have when a new gaffed box hits the market. Instant reset? Any card design? Examinable before and after? And of course most important of all....Is it a fooler? Jonathan's Toibox is this and much more. Most of us are content with having a signed card appear in a box. Over the last few years, he has sent me countless routines involving the box; routines that include mentalism, a cup like final load and most intriguing...a handling where the box can be shown empty BEFORE AND AFTER the card appears in the box. Another great feature is if your box is lost, damaged, stolen or if you just feel like giving it away....a replacement is available at any grocery, drug store or convenience store. And if you search a bit, you will easily find mint tins that might suit your performing style more. I have seen tins with a Ouija theme, bible verses, sexy images...even blank tins are available on Amazon for you to decorate as you see fit. All this, and a very affordable price make this a no-brainer.

Pepka: Do you have a link to where I can purchase a suitable box that is non-altoid? We do not have them in Norway..

Iam interested in this for its mentalism capabilities, would be nice to see an unedited non cut performance.
Thanks Dean |

@Montana76 search blank mint tins on Amazon and they should come up.

I really like his work, especially his recent lecture notes. I too believe he is a top tier "worker". One question about this effect though. Is this the same as the version that was out back in 2006? http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......orum=109
Or is it an updated version? I saw this advertised on his Youtube Channel recently and found out about the "older version?" with a quick search for the new one. I was just wondering what improvements, if any there were?

What's the skill level? I'm not much of a card worker, but this looks very good.

But if you are not a card handler of intermediate level upwards, other products such as the Kennedy box may be better for you. I would put this at around a 5 or 6 out of 10 for difficulty for the 3phase routine. Don't get me wrong, this is not knuckle busting, but reasonable sleight of hand and some performing experience would definitely be a benefit to getting the most out of it. Remember though, practice can be fun and rewarding! This system has a few solid advantages over some other products. |

Just reading the old thread on the original release, suggests there may be easy handling so as well..

The new release has lots of new moves and ideas not in the original 2006 manuscript. Plus this is the first time everything can be seen on video. Refinements on the original handlings as well. Post this response on the Café if you can please. Any other questions feel free to email me. " Glad to get a response from the creator himself and know it has been re-vamped. As I say, I love his work. Watching him perform on his YouTube Channel is amazing and inspiring (which was why I jumped on his lecture notes as soon as they were released. I also learned a lot on his Pass Protorial) I am sure I will be getting this too in the near future.

Got to check this out as have bought most versions of this over the last 30 years & allways do a card (folded or not ) in something or somewhere.
Really impressed with anything that Mr Kamm releases. It's obvious to me that he is at the top of his game. He not only talks the talk but walks the walk. Check out his lecture notes as well. Mike Donoghue |

Anyone know if smaller hands can do this with no problems? They're not miniature, but I'm 5'8" and well, sometimes it makes a difference in routines. (You big guys at 6' can cover anything with those mitts it seems like...no fair )

If you can finger palm a Mercury folded card you should be fine.
There's a wonderful switch between 2 "Atloids SMALL" boxes taught but the tins are indeed small and that shouldn't be a problem either (it's meant to be done on the off-beat anyway). It's a wonderful video, and it's true to say this is "the Okito box of card boxes". Simple but effective moves. And Mr Kamm provides you with a vast array of utility moves which will hopefully easily help you to create your own routines. Very impressed. 2016 is off a great start (and one that'll be hard to top). |

This is really great! IMO, this is the best card to box "non-gimmick". This one beats all the gimmick boxes hands down.

Nice- I too, wish there was more to the trailer, but understand why there probably isn't.
If this is as good as it seems, I'll be glad I didn't spring for any of the other pricier versions. |

Calvin826,
I think you will like it. It uses a regular mini-altoids type box that is readily available. In the video, he shared different types available. One he shared was for cat breath mints. I thought it was so ridiculous and funny that I ordered some from the internet. So, even if they don't sell altoids in another country, you could get any number of tins that will work, either in that country, or over the internet. I haven't received the tins yet, but I think the little "cat mints" inside are in the shape of little fish. I plan on using this two fold, for this routine and for a routine similar to "The Pennies" by Giovanni Livera. In fact, with a deck of cards and this un-gimmicked tin, you could have an entire close-up magic act. The little mints could also be used for "mints across" like coins across, or the classic three mints, two in the hand and one in the pocket routine, etc. KJ |

Thanks KJ (and Jeremie, from above). I never really practiced doing one while in the middle of a routine, however. But I can palm one fine. I was discouraged years ago when I went through decks of doing so, they always had an edge or two off. But this does sound like a winner (and thanks for your thoughts guys).
