Early this morning Alan Rickman lost his battle with cancer. He was best known for his roll as Professor Snape in the Harry Potter movie series but many others as well. He was surrounded by family and friends at the time his passing. One of my favorite quotes was "Alan why do you always play a bad guy? To which he responded I don't I only play interesting characters".

To say the least Alan was an interesting character and will be missed.

I'm so sorry to hear this.

Alan was always a selling point in any add for a Movie. I've heard he played bad guys but I don't seem to have seen those.

The snatch of the photo from the young fan in the autograph line (Galaxy Quest) was what first drew my attention to Alan. His choices and nuance will be missed.

I think he is the ultimate center for sarcasm. He always made me laugh when he would get that tone of voice. Hilarious as the medatron and even more so in Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Brilliant as professor Snape in fact he may have made him the best character in the series.

I regret only that we didn't get to see the meltdown that's in the book when Harry and Hermonie sneak back to the room (just in time to see themselves start the time travelling) hearing Snape coming up the stairs shouting; "It was Potter, I know it was Potter!" only for him to find them under lock and key.
"There's no time to lose," I heard her say.
"Catch your dreams before they slip away."
"Dying all the time, lose your dreams and you could lose your mind.
Ain't life unkind?"

I agree with Mr. Mystoffelees. Very sad news indeed. May he rest in peace.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.
