Hello!!! so my question is does anyone give handouts to kids?
So at school events something for every kid to take home. To reinforce what was taught during the lesson ie.. Science, anti bullying or other eductional show. So something the kids can show mom and dad and get your information in the kids/moms hands Or what about kids bday parties. Poster for bday child? learn magic brochure coloring sheet.... something??????? also family events family fun nights, church, camps? something every kid gets to take home. Im in process of working on this and trying to get ideas. Thanks for your help. |

I always give every kid in the audience a Magical Michael Learn Magic Card - post card size with two tricks that they can do with everyday objects - and my contact info, as well. Cost: About 6 cents each.

I love the $100 Bills I give out called drop cards. They fold in half and look like real money but they have your promo info on the inside. I give these out at birthdays and preschools/daycare etc. Not in large school shows though.

Unlike kids parties and the like where the handout is immediately passed on to the parent or goes straight home/into the vehicle,
when given out at school the Handout may go straight home, but more likely first it goes into a child's desk and then maybe a week or so later find their way home, or get dumped out when the kid has a desk cleanout. Anyone going to tell us what the result of the handouts is? Say, a proportion of bookings gained versus number of handouts? And does anyone use a 'hurry-up' enticement, like "A booking made by XXX will get a ZZ % discount if mention the codeword AAA ' ?
The presentation makes the magic.

I tried a Google search for a Magical Michael Learn Magic Card . But not much came up. I like the idea of the card, can someone point me in the right direction.
Thanks Dave |

When I was doing kids shows, I seemed to get a lot of 4 - 10 age groups, so the following worked well for me - a "Dapper Dan Magic Coloring Page". I somehow came up with a custom line picture - probably of a magician pulling a rabbit out of a hat - with my name and contact information on it. I primarily did b-day parties at homes and restaurants, so it was a standard giveaway for me. Had a relatively low hit rate, but for the cost of the photo copies, it was worth it.
May sound dumb... but little kids LOVE walking away with anything!
Tada!...

For my current giveaways (show souvenir), I hired someone to design and print a series of postcards for me (I call them "Magic Activity Postcards"), with my photo on one side, and magic tricks on the other side. Not a new idea by any means (it's just a form of oversized trading cards). These are NOT the type of postcards where they have a blank area for you to put a mailing address, and toss them into a mailbox.
I've mentioned them on other threads, where we discussed giveaways and also BOR items (here's just one thread of many on the topic). In addition to giving them to children at my shows, I also use them in envelopes, as part of customer mailings. To be perfectly honest, I don't really track the amount of giveaways vs. shows booked as a result. I look at them as just something where I'm adding value to my magic show (giving children a fun souvenir). - Donald P.S. Here's a photo of postcard #1 (I currently have 6 different cards in the series):
