I wonder how many magicians ever had any problems with Stevens Magic sending the wrong items.
I ordered 3 fake eggs from their list that stated (medium) size. I spend extra to ship them fast --I need them for this weekend bookings. I open the box to find that they shipped me (small Eggs)like large size bird eggs. Although, they were very polite about the mistake and offered to take them back for a credit on postage and all. It's just the set back on not been able to do the routine for this weekend shows. Tricky Ricky |

And for this you create a post asking if anyone else has had problems with them?? Seriously?? Stevens Magic Emporium (I've never heard of a Stevens Magic International) has been in business for 40 years with a flawless reputation, supplying the highest quality merchandise to the top pros around the world, as well as all lesser knowns. This kind of longevity does not happen except by accident.
Mistakes happen and this sounds like the only explanation, unless there is a difference in opinion as to what constitutes larger, medium and small. Figuring that you had a rush order, does not put you in a position to be upset if there is a hitch along the way. S*** happens, even to the best of them. The fact that you spent extra for rush shipping is entirely irrelevant. It sounds like that aspect was handled accordingly. I really dislike posts like this...

I have been buying from Stevens for nearly 30 years. And never had an issue. Back in the days before email and Internet . I looked forward to the mailman bringing their mini catalog loaded with effects no one else had. And when I did buy something, it came fast and perfect. A great company to work with.

Customer satisfaction can be a moving target.
A few years ago, I marveled at amazon's ability to deliver what I purchased in two days. Now I am finding myself annoyed that two day "shipping" is promised, but amazon takes 10 days for "fulfilment" of items labeled as "In Stock," and, when they use the USPS, two day delivery is extremely unlikely. And now amazon is playing with their own delivery services which, more often than not, are far cheaper than alternatives (and time frame promises are ignored). And I think that when a concern has been performing well over the course of 40 years it is often worth asking whether they are still "up to snuff." Forty years is plenty of time for a changing of the guard from a management that took pride in its professionalism, quality and customer service to one that is "finance-driven," and could not give a hoot about professionalism, quality or customer service. |
