And wouldn't it just be easier to torture the guy to find out? Since we are making new rules what not make useful ones? Do you really think the government will stop? And what of every other government on the planet? What about if they start finding and using information to curb free speech? Make no mistake they are playing a different game than you seem to think. Do you like the fact that the government does not seem to be able to get into your phone?

Or maybe you want iOS 11 to come with well known backdoors?

I suspect there might be more areas of agreement than you think.

But law enforcement that has met the legal criteria to request for a search warrant should be able to get in. Is there any situation that you would be ok with the govt getting access to a locked phone? Active kidnapping where suspect is in custody but victim hasn't been found but is still alive? I don't think we are making new rules per se, search warrants have existed for many moons and I believe the govt has every right to execute those legal warrants. As for a ticking time bomb, I think the govt curbing free speech is such a case as well.

It would be best if a mechanical real-time 'key' could be made...in other words, you couldn't unlock it without the physical phone being present....that would or could prevent internet problems.
I think. and I'm with Apple....with an 'Omnikey', think of what could happen if our government turned nasty and 'fundamentally' crazy...

But what's the effect? I can improvise on the spot when I shuffled the deck? Or, I can't improvise, but it doesn't matter, ha, ha, because I have the deck in an order that stays the same despite my shuffles so I can use a memorized script?
Anyway, some of the non-Sam questions in this thread are addressed in this summary: http://fusion.net/story/271636/apples-battle-with-the-fbi/

(yea you have to alter one line) Then as a kicker finish up with something about finding that lost card and pull that from your jacket pocket or under the cardcase. Now back to imaginary terrorist molesters with all their timely info on an encrypted iphone the police found just waiting for a key to save the scared child and they can find all the other bad folks...

Apparently some are 100% ok with criminals having a foolproof way to hide their nefarious crimes from the police and would rather protect the guilty than the innocent. Ignorance is bliss times infinity. Ostrich head in the sand. Your ways of thinking will cost many lives. But you could care less about lives, just as long as you sound good in an Internet argument. Not too brilliant. But that's what's to be expected by quite a few here lol

The way I see it is dead terrorists have no rights to privacy.
I hope they kick down the door and waterboard apple until they give. All really simple to me, just give apple the phone and have them retrieve the information in private, and they can keep the phone. The Information is all they wanting anyway. Tom

Are we ok with computer makers such as Dell encrypting their computers so that those who want to download child porn can do so with no repercussions?

Landmark, of course you have rights but the day you become a terrorist don’t count on me backing you.
