I'm magician, but I started my barman's career last week, IT'S my job now. Have you got any idea what trick can I perform as a barman, during my work ? I though only about levitation, chop cup, sponge balls. I know, it's not creative Smile

Tricks with matches, mind reading, dice...
Quick things, for people don't want to wait til the barman is done to order a drink...

Just buy DVDs by Bar Magicians such as Doc Eason, and others.

It will be hard trying to learn and perfect magic tricks while working a full time job. Kind of like "putting the cart before the horse", as they say.

One you can start right away, is Multiplying Sponge Bunnies.

In this kind of magic, your job is to entertain customers, so they buy more drinks, and tip big.

Not to be a miracle worker, or be creative, as you will be pouring drinks more then miracles.

Just make sure your boss has approved you doing this.

I bartended once a week and got more tips than any other bartender.
This was because of the magic tricks. There was super large martini glass on the bar and it overflowed with bills.
I only performed in between serving drinks.
Also, I did the tricks to only 2-4 people. Others in the bar saw and asked me to do something for them. It was more intimate and personal.

I can only tell you what I did.
Fire Wallet to get their attention and talk about magic
Extreme Burn
Cups & Balls with cocktail shakers and olives.
Invisible Deck
Chicago Surprise.
CMH
Professors Nighmare.
Production of filled shot glass from wallet. (I got this from Tannen's)
Hopping Halves
Sponge Balls
Various IT effects
Slydini Silks
Loop animations
Bill switch
I don't use them all in one night but I'm prepared depending on circumstances.
Good luck,
Ihor

Gadujadu, that is excellent advice from Bill. You will be well on the way if you study Doc Eason. His card under glass is not only a classic but absolutely fantastic, but more important, people luv it. I've worked rowdy bars in my younger days and if you set yourself up as better than the spectator, drunks get angry and want to wreck your performance. I learnt early to stay away from what could be considered challenge magic. Guys like Eason really know how to get a bar crowd on side. You wont go wrong.

Gadujadu,
If you're still bartending, I highly recommend the "Premier Vanishing Wine Bottle" and "Exquisite".
I just got both of them and they are a big hit for a bartender.
Exquisite is a levitating wine glass and goes well with the Premier Vanishing Wine Bottle.
