I am looking to compile a list of packet tricks from the 1970's. I would be fine being pointed to a list that might exist already. I do want to stick to any that were released from 1970-1979. I'm especially looking for obscure ones.

Star trick based on Star Trek seems a bit obscure.

Plus the Star Wars packet trick which had great art work from the movie.

1970's seemed less worried about copyright than they do these days.

Greetings Chuck;
Check out the books, "Small But Deadly" by Café member
Paul Hallas. Paul covered a vast history of packet effects
in his books.

I like to think of them as encyclopedias of packet ticks.

Paul is a member here on the café, so you can shoot him
a message about obtaining the books if you do not already have
them.

All the Best
Marty

I highly recommend Paul Hallas' book "Small But Deadly" too. It has a ton of history and tricks. It's also great for a foundation to come up with new and updated routines.

J.K. Hartman's "Packet Magic". I believe it was published in early 1980's but worth looking into.

Here is the best display of 70's packet effects I've found anywhere.

Thanks for sharing. I especially like the ad copy for Two Card Monte - "Keeps you in free cigars." Ah, the good old days. Wish I was born a couple decades earlier.

Thanks for sharing that list, Magicfish ... brings back great memories! My favorites at the time were Eightball and (of course) Color Monte.

There was also a nifty effect (by Emerson & West, I think) which involved all the backs of the cards changing to a different color.

Larry West had one that was called Wild Wild West. Not a 100% sure of it being released in the 70s.

Nick Trost was another who had quite a few.

I bought a fun one that I believe was from the 70's called Out Of Order. It's a nice twist type effect about a "carderfeiter" making cards that don't come out quite right.

The Paul Hallas books (the second of which is "Still Small, Still Deadly") are terrific! You may also be interested in tracking down a copy of "Packet Magic," by Richard Paddon.

As I mentioned in my book "Still Small, Still Deadly" in the Ron Frost chapter, this was made available again in poker size cards from Meir Yedid. There's a video dem. of it here:
