Hi all,

Came across this item 'Center Tear' at Abbott, but no price was given. I heard lance Burton performed it before. So anyone have this and are aware of its price? Any reviews on it?

Thanks,
yujie

Center Tear is at least 40 years old. It is a very good effect. I have been performing it at least 30 years.

I combine this with egg in paper plus to vanish a broken egg.

The trick is simple. Fold the tabloid paper in 4ths and tear the center out in the shape of a diamond. Tear the diamond in many small pieces and place in fold of paper. Show paper with missing center wedge missing. Shake open the paper. The center is back.

I always get a good reaction from the audience. Not applause but a big “Whooo!” from the spectators.

It used to sell very cheaply. Last I heard it was about $12. This gets you some sample papers and instructions. You can make more yourself. It does not take long. Just glue stick.

The flash restoration is Lance Burton's idea and is not available anywhere.

Marconick also published a version in his hardbound book years ago. Of course it is out of print. Basically he just used a larger portion of the center to remove.

Hi there.

This is one of the best, most direct ways to tear and restore a paper. And yes, Lance Burton (among many, many other professionals) uses this method.

The Gene Anderson version of the Torn and Restored newspaper is great. But if you want to perform something that's just as direct and takes less set up, then go for the Center Tear.

Call Abbott's at 269-432-3235 and buy one. For $10 or $12, you'll be glad you did!

It is worth the twenty bucks. We have free tabloid papers we can get at grocery stores that advertise employment or homes for sale.

So it only cost the glue stick.

I have this method which I purchased from Abbot's , and my only comment is that the instructions suck!
It makes learning much harder than it should be, but the trick itself is worth the extra effort.
By the way it is the Neil Foster Tear.

This is a such a great paper tear! My favorite method. It sets up quickly and can be performed surrounded. I have used this version in trade shows for years. $20 is a bargin!

Here is the link to Abbotts' Web Site - you can get an email address from there:

Cabrera,

The instructions come with 6 pre-made sets. So with the instructions and the newspapers the instructions make perfect sense.

I have heard the same thing from other people. I never had a problem with the instructions as is. Although, this same person I made up one in front of him and he still did not understand.

Some people object to the pre-creases showing in the paper. I like them, easier to refold.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the link to Abbotts' website, however I still can't find an email address! The site states at the bottom you can buy online but I can't find an email contact anywhere.

If anyone has Abbotts email address it would be a great help.

Thanks

Actually I don't understand the instructions either... do you know if I can find a video anywhere so that I can understand better? I bought the original from abbott's so I don't want to "steal" anything, but I really don't understand what to do

You folks may be reading the paper and tearing up the instructions! Just a thought.

It's a pretty striaght-forward effect. If you're having trouble making it up, then order the refills from Abbotts. Once you have one, you'll know how to make it up. The paper can be set-up in only a few moments.

It's a great tear and worth the time to learn (and well worth the money). I've done the Anderson Tear for years and while most of my shows are mentalism now, occasionally I still do my old magic show. If the conditions are bad for the Anderson tear - I do this one. It can be done surrounded.
