You're a card magician, you bring out some cards and do a trick ... and that's as much thought as a layman puts into it. Take the packet of cards from a regular deck of cards if you feel chased, but it's hardly required in order to entertain. Some of the most powerful, in your face card magic ever created is in the form of a packet tricks ... they're as popular as they ever were, probably more so with things like Poker Test and other "new" releases. As well, Entourage, Twisted Sisters, B'Wave, Brainwave, etc are all as surprising and effective as they ever were. Packet tricks, like all card magic - don't grow old and out of style. For somebody who's never seen quality card magic (which is 99% of the population), a 20 year old packet trick is as entertaining today as it was 20 years ago. |

I learned Color Monte when I was a beginner and somewhere along the line I shelved it. Recently I pulled it out again and was completely amazed by the smiles, laughs and genuine wonder that is produced.
It's very easy to dismiss tricks based on some broad theory but nothing beats actual experience. (I don't use the diamond cards that come with the trick.) |

Agree with mrsmiles, spectator does not follow closely the trend of magic industry, as long as you know what experience you are presenting to your audience, that is what matters.
