There's a thread going on in the latest and greatest about this but I wanted to bring the discussion here. Have you guys got this yet?

Thought Jump blurs the line between mind-reading and psychokinesis. It's so rare to find mind reading that you can actually see. Some folks say this is worth it just for the billet work alone. I'm a fan of Redford's work... I'll likely take the plunge today. |

You are getting more than your money's worth. For ten dollars he gives you various methods and ploys for the billets. Plus he gives you various ways to present this. Oh, and the whole seance like thing with the glass, string and billet is more than worth the price.
You will not feel cheated. This is an hour video with no useless filler. It's all working ideas. I already sent Patrick an idea to further enhance the seance like presentation. Greg

Redford's stuff is always great in my opinion. I bought this because of the spirit bell actually. He offers a lot for only $10. The thought jump principle is very interesting and easy. He gives many different ideas on presenting a revelation along with practical advice for using it strolling. The spirit bell was great and I am going to start testing it out as soon as possible. Overall, this is a very good buy.

Greg,
It is good to hear your take on this. I looked at the video, and it does not fit my style. Because it did not mesh with what I do, I was thinking who would find this useful. You did a great job explaining why some would make this purchase. Thanks, Bobby

Why the spirit glass?
I guess that the spirit glass falls into the open domain area and that anyone can sell the information. It must be only me, but why would you have a card or billet move or jump? To me it looks more like a magic trick than mentalism, especially when you place a glass over the billet. With the Penquin crowd, I suppose the young magicians are the prime target for something like this. For me, I would used the spirit bell/glass for other things instead of using it in a close up act. I think when the spirit glass is used this way, it losses so much authority and becomes nothing more than a cute little trick tucked away among the cards and sponge balls. My 2 cents Ray |

It definitely fits more in the bizarre category. His idea for the the billet, glass and string would work for the bizarre guys that are into seances. And, as I said, I sent him an idea to further that bizarre quality. Oh, and he teaches you how to use the movement of the billet to move other stuff.
But, of course, like everything else, it's not for everyone, but for the price you are getting a useful idea and various presentations. Greg

I'm going to agree with Greg's earlier post and say that the billet work and spirit bell alone is worth 10 bucks. There are two nice s******s taught along with some nice subtleties. I'm not even sure I'll use the actual thought jump technique, but I still am happy with the purchase.

Ray,
Every part of this has a reason for being there. The glass is used as an amplification device much like a crystal ball would have been used. The "jumping" is a consequence of that amplification of thought transference. Though if we're just speaking of why move something under a glass.... We've been doing this for a long time to simulate the test conditions of a laboratory experiment in PK. The spirit glass is part of this as there is a seance routine taught that uses the singing glass as both a spirit Bell and as a pendulum. This is also an improved working version of what some may already be familiar with. The folks who saw the spirit Bell, only saw it used in the context of a mini living and dead seance. This was not part of a larger close up set. I hope this helps to answer some of your questions and concerns. |

Although I think it's pretty well known that Patrick and I are close friends, I want to say that this is an amazing and genuinely creepy performance piece. For ten bucks, I can't imagine anyone feeling as if they haven't gotten more than their money's worth. It's just brilliant.

So is it brilliant just because it is being talked about on a forum where many new guys didn't know about it? Is it brilliant because people who don't do spooky can now do a dead and alive with the glass? I still favor a pendulum for that. Why is it brilliant? I have used the glass for a number of years now, and done correctly, it will and can send a chill down the spine. It can also bring tears if done well. You can buy Nelms book for something like $11- $12 that has mind reading and explains how to make and use the glass. A lot of information at the finger tips. Or get the information from Ed's web site. Is it brilliant just because it is being talked about here, to get the Penquin crowd to buy the download? Is that why it is brilliant? Ray |

I finally purchased it but missed the introductory price in the first 24 hours. I'm still very happy with this purchase. Like others have said above, there is a lot more here than I expected. The billet technique (not even the jump) is something I'm going to start using right away. This is a great value, even at the $20.00 price tag. This isn't one trick. Had I known how much was here, I would have jumped on it right away.

I really like this billet technique. I see it replacing the simplified baker s***** that I have been using. The subtlety with the pen is cool too, though can't really be repeated too much. It's a good one to have in the arsenal anyway.

I'm a big fan of Patrick's work and when I saw the introductory price, had to get it.
As said above, what you learn in this technique isn't just the Thought Jump method, but a LOT more. Some of it you should be acquainted to if you've studied mentalism for a time, but even so, PR's teaching is casual, fun and worth the cost. I have a couple of the spirit 'bells' produced by Adrian Deery, so was a little miffed that the method was offered out, however, Patrick's credit history nods to the fact that it's nothing new. Top work sir! |
