Dear fellow Magi,

My friend Jonathan Wooten has created a baffling effect with a deck of cards and a rubberband.
Personally, I had no clue how this could possibly work, until he released a FREE video explanation today!

I urged him not to release this for free, as it is too good, but he went ahead anyway. Lucky us! Smile

Here are two performance videos:

Full performance:

And here are the two explanation videos (each is around 15min):

Explanation 1:

Explanation 2- (Bonus stuff, sticking the card to your wrist, also some fun card spins):

Here are some closing words from Jonathan (he is not a member here):

"Oh, I want to mention, after you do everything you need to do, the spectator can shoot the band in, doesn't matter who shoots it in. It's self working at that point. So feel free to let your spectators try it, though some people may have trouble stretching the band!"

We hope you enjoy this freebie but don't overlook it. It could easily have been sold on the market.

All the best

Nice job, got me thinking about more ways of using the basic secret.

Thanks for a great contribution.

If am am honest, I have the feeling that it is (at the moment) "a concept" that is not yet polished enough.
However, it is very interesting and there is surely potential in it.

The spinning of the card is really nice (bonus file).
Have you experimented yet with an invisible loop?

Many thanks.

What do you mean it is a "concept" not yet polished enough? Can you elaborate?

Jonathan has performed this many times with the block method and the magnetic stock method. Laymen and magicians alike are stumped.
The method works and is something I would never guess in a million years.

How would you use an invisible loop in this effect?

Thank you for your response. Smile

I didn't mean to be negative. On the contrary.
It's just that it is not always one single card that jumps out of the deck.
The word "concept" is probably not the right one here (language barrier... Smile ).
It is maybe more a question of "esthetics" or "purity" that maybe can be improved.

Hi Waterloophai,

I did not take it as a negative. I was just wondering about your reasoning behing the statement.

I see what you mean and I could agree to a point.
On the other hand, one could argue that the effect is even stronger if it is not flawless.
Like a mental effect which doesn't work completely and makes it seem more plausible.

I actually wondered about your issue but as I said, it seems more plausible if it's more messy. Smile
