Question...Have been working ExTROYdinary with a Lassen uncirc peace dollar [ set. works great!
For the hooser 3 fly routines using a fl***er coin, would uncirculated peace dollars talk significantly more than soft morgans or peace dollars? Is there a noticable difference> Thanks for the help. |

While some people who use the uncirculated Morgan's in the Ultimate 3 fly, say they don't mind the talking, I notice it. One of the cool principles of three fly is that coins that normally clink, are moving and soundlessly. Think of the Chinese linking rings. When you do the silent links, don't you get a stronger reaction?
Now that I have been doing three fly for over a year, I can do it with almost any coins, silently, but it is harder to do so. So I would recommend the softer set. I clean and polish my soft coins so they are just as pretty as the uncirculated ones. Kirk G |

Troy uses fairly new coins for all his work. I have a Morgan soft set, and love it. If using it for Troy's routine you shouldn't have a problem. Check out his coins through the table, It's pretty much the same method, and a great routine.

I prefer the soft Morgans. The shiny mint coins however are better for the retention of vision passes. That shine from the coin really burns it into the spectator's retina.

I love the beautiful engraving in older coins..what art that is now mostly gone in modern coins. Yes, they make noise, but I still prefer uncirculated. I find spectators are so absorbed in the visual magic, that I have never heard any comments about "coin talk". Besides, I also find that with extensive practice, the coins "high points" wear down so a compromise is reached..less noise and the coins still look great.

Polish your coins and you will get the same retention of vision. I also make "soft" coins and I have the ability to take only the stuff that talks, leaving the rest of the detail for looks.

I agree with Kirk G-
I believe he even posted how to soften your coins previously - a highly polished soft coin gives both benefits of visibility and no talking. That is what I have done to all my Morgan dollars. |

For most effects I prefer the somewhat darkened look of the old Morgans. Its helps the spectator distinguish the individual coins better as in a coins across effect. Otherwise they tend to smear together visually because they are so reflective.
