I liked the list. It was meaningful to me. It gave me ideas as to what avenues I was neglecting. Thanks for sharing.

I agree with bunkyhenry, I like the list.
You can’t apply anything without first knowing where to apply it. Making a list of your options is always a good thing. And having many options to choose from is a great idea. Well done Mike. Thanks for sharing. I'm sure it will cause many to think. Tom

It's a detailed list that points at markets to be explored more in-depth. It reads like a table of contents from a large book on marketing.
It can be very helpful to those not striking out at windmills. Magicians helping magicians. |

It was a pleasure guys. Thanks for the kind words. A winner will say, "Conceive, Believe, Achieve."
Conceive: Write down you list. Read it everyday. Believe: Have confidence you can accomplish the list you have. Be surrounded by faith. Focus on your list on a regular basis. Achieve: You made it to the finished line. You accomplished your mission. You made success following your list. Do not let anyone slow you down from reaching your goal. Create your own road to success. |

Having a list is the equivalent of knowing how many pieces a puzzle has. Great information but really meaningless. Until you start to put the work into solving it. Marketing is no different. I don't care HOW many slogans have spouted actin is required.
It is interesting to me that Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs never comes up in these discussions. People compare themselves to Steve Jobs and all the great marketers in the world and never for a second consider why people are making the decisions they do. Guys get so caught up in how they found out about them they forget the basics of what motivates them to purchase in the first place. A nodding aquaintence with the concept will pare down that list considerably. Why not work smarter not harder? Mike Here is Maslow and how it can help you more than just a list. http://smallbusiness.chron.com/descripti......333.html

I have written about this before and truly believe the way to both conduct business and marketing is based on a highly psychological approach. It's best for your business, most efficient (like qualifying your customers first) and ultimately best for the customer themselves. This is the level of which business should operate at as a starting point. Of course before when mentioned a few seemed to get it and it went whoosh past many others. |

BTW, I have conquered the first four and am working on self actualization now. Maslow postulated that as man meets the needs at the first level, he moves toward the next, then the next and so on.

Wow, a lot going on here. With respect to Dynamikes list, I understand both sides of the discussion. To some, a list of 50 potential activities may reveal at a glance areas to consider or at least try to better understand. To others, it is useless without Supportive content. Keith took Mindpro's "list" out of context, because that list was supported by content contained in his book. I do not see the section Keith quoted from Mindpro to contradict anything Mindpro has done or said. He seems to hold himself to the same standard.
Personally, looking at Dynamikes list I found to be interesting. I dislike most threads with lists, but this one made me think of prioritization strategies, and ones ability to walk away from certain ones listed that do not provide a high enough roi for my particular business model. Other ones listed I may give some more thought to. |

I certainly agree with Dannydoyles point that Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs is important but the criticism seems to be that techniques were not included. Dynamike posted a list of avenues or mediums used to communicate with. It was not intended to provide techniques or strategies to implement via those mediums. The name of the post is a little misleading.

Every successful person I know uses lists. But I guess if you already know everything there is to know,
the list may not be for you. I also think it is very rude to put other people’s posts down when they go out of their way to post a long extensive post here. But you know what, over the years I’ve learned that people aren’t always rude and mean for the sport of it, or because they are against you; people are most often rude and mean because they are trying to cope with themselves. List don't waste people time, people waste their own time by sitting on their butts looking for complaints. If you want to make it to the top in life you must put desire first so it will guide you there. When you run into a tough challenge dealing with business, look on the list above to see what marketing technique you are not doing correctly. I hope to see all of you at the top by the end of this year.

Back to the opening post - Dynamike's very specific list provides an excellent collection of marketing avenues that may have been forgotten. I've seen similar lists in almost every single marketing or business program I've read over the years and I paid money for those!
Unquestionably, some people are beyond receiving benefits from the list, but I'm certain others will. I haven't read into the list any of my own desires on what Mike should have posted. I accepted it as what it was - a stand-alone list, not thoughts and experiences. But it still reminded me of a couple areas I haven't paid attention to for a while, and have added to MY list of things to do. |

Danny - "once you calm down" was a joke. I didn't think I'd need the smiley face to get you to see get it.
In the future, I'll remember that Danny wants me to respond to EVERYONE that's mean so I don't single anyone out. I wish you would just write my posts from now on, so they'd say what you'd like them to say. Quote:
Funny since you want to point this stuff out how is it you get to assign tone and claim "bullying " and I am not allowed to? You are more than welcome to point out bullying. Don't assign things to me I haven't said. Quote:
How is it being a bully to point out the truth? It's not. Quote:
And I might buy your anti bully nonsense if you had responded differently to Tony and his obvious harsh tone. Since you didn't . . . . I appreciate that you'd really like me to respond to everyone that agrees with you so some people don't feel picked on. So I think you'll appreciate that I did address Tony's thoughts in my last post, which was written BEFORE you noted that I didn't. You posted yours as I was typing mine. So it looks like, if I take you at your word, that you just might buy into this anti-bullying nonsense. Awesome! |

I think Keith is on to something - that DOES look like a list from a table of contents.
Put three pages of content with each item and you have a very nice non-fiction marketing for magicians business book that probably rivals most of what you'll currently find available. Oscar |

I don’t know about you all but I can remember not just reading but ‘studying’ the huge magic catalogs.
I also liked reading the phone book; those yellow pages in a new town were fun and educational to me. Tom
