I know it's about principle etc which is fine, but have to agree and say the chances of the spectator seeing the you know what is quite slim (especially as the bills are constantly moving) then you end up putting the gimmicked bill inside the normal bill as a final display as well.

If your gimmick is just a little off then it can flash, especially with a contrasting colour such as the £30.
My solution is to turn the hands palm up as you split it. You'll find there's no overlap this way that can flash and everything looks normal. Then you can lightly place your thumb on the centre of the gimmick to keep it aligned as you turn it over to show both sides. At least that's the way it works with the way my gimmick ended up. Hope this helps some of you. |

How hard is it to tie the knot for SPLIT ? I am thinking of getting one but fear that the knot will not stand for long .

If you buy from Saturn Magic, Mark gives a nice little tip on help when tying on his bonus page.

Sparkybear, like the other guy, I'm thinking you're simply assuming that if I'm worrying about something, it means necessarily that I'm not practicing enough, or badly, and that this will affect my attitude toward spectators. Well you're wrong in both cases. Kissdadookie didn't want to understand that I do not let my worries to be reflected in my attitude. You do the same mistake, I'm tired of repeating. After all, it's not as if you know me and have seen me performing, right ? Because Kissdadookie thinks he knows how I perform in real world.
For instance, I use the Raven very often, and sometimes, it makes a sound, and it's in an environment you don't have lot of noise, so the sound is very, very noticeable, and never I have been caught by all these people who must have heard the sound. Yet, it didn't stop me to modify the gimmick (cutting the black cloth in order to introduce a lot of cotton and sew it). Now my Raven makes no noise at all. I'm very proud of that modification. When I think about it, the crazy reactions I got reveal that, at that very moment, they have no clue of what happened. But what I'm concerned of, is after my show/performance, they may start to think about what I did. You may have spectators that are impressed by your performance and 1) have no clue or 2) think they may have some clue but not sure about it and even wrong. My ideal is to reach outcome 1) not 2). So, if you are satisfied with just 2), I am always concerned as to how to achieve outcome 1). The same is true for RFR, since there is some noise when the clip retracts after catching the ring. If people starts asking about the sound, in my opinion, it kills the effect, even if they have no clue. I have received RFR a week ago, and I've done it to two girls and it had great effects, and the sound, I think, was definitely noticeable, and they never asked about the sound. So you would think it's perfect. But not me. I don't want to take the risk to make noise and encouraging the spectator to ask some questions. It doesn't matter if you answer the question correct; the very fact they begin to ask for something is bad, in my opinion. It may be a little detail, but for me it means a lot. Quote:

In other situations, what you may have, could be, let's say, a little piece of gimmick that a suspector doesn't suspect you to hold. Even if you reach your pocket, it's obvious they won't suspect anything, since they think your hand is empty. Using your wallet to switch bill is less obvious, like I said. It's a more natural move, and a bill was hidden in the opening of the wallet, on a side they don't see. |

Couldn't agree more with this statement it Is so true , some magicians are more concerned about satisfying themselves than the people they are performing to ! |

Saw a Spanish guy do something last night that utilised Split, but didn't get chance to find out much more from him re exactly what he had done. It looked good though.
He took a €10 and a diamond ring from 2 specs near beginning of his set (parlour show) The ring and the money "went wrong" he apologised and went on with his act after saying that they maybe just turn up. Later near end he pretended he was finished of course the specs asked about there property.... The ring appeared in box that had been hanging from ceiling....wish I knew what it was and how he did it..... I know it wasnt a stooge and from the moment box was lowered till it was opened t only person who went near it was the spec....really good. The money... No he couldn't find it..... Went to his wallet, pulled out kids money... Snap... Went to a £20 and £10... ooooppsss wrong currency, "Need to change" and with same "dirty bill" Snap to 2 €10 notes..... It was a stunning looking, and the specs loved it. In the bar it was one of the tricks they were really raving about. Interestingly way, way, way, more people talked about that than the ring in the box, which for me and my mate who is also into magic were stunned by. Hopefully I will meet him again next month and have a chance to find out what he does, but it was definitely SPLIT he was using I got told that much. Hopefully maybe find out about the box too |

That isn't the problem. The problem is that you are over thinking things and "running when there is no need to run". YOU are telling us what you are doing because of the things you are saying that YOU worry about and think about. Go watch the greats. Go watch top guys. They sometimes do what should be REALLY suspicious and obvious and yet it isn't. Why cause they don't worry about it and have great audience management - The small move hides the large move. I remember watching lecture by Aaaron Fisher. He was talking about the half pass. Pointed out how hard it was to make it "invisible". He simply showed how to do it as invisble as possible, purely by turning and misdirection. Then he went onto the really cool bit.... doing the half pass in full view, the "worst half pass in the world" yet it fly's past people. You don't see it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with finding ways around possible and real "problems" nothing wrong with that, not at all. But you are going way beyond that when you start thinking people will be suspicious about this and that. People will always be suspicious of magic cause they KNOW its a trick.... Magic doesn't exist!!! Am willing to bet you that you have gave up on stuff and put them in your bottom drawer, that you have given up on because of worries, that you could actually do very well and your worries would be unfounded. All I have done is try to help you. The same way I was helped. Not having a pop or make fun of you in anyway. Not at all. You seem to keep going on the defensive and attacking. You even start making things personal...." So, if you are satisfied with just 2), I am always concerned as to how to achieve outcome 1)." So now I am not professional enough and willing to do anything less than the very best??? Your somehow better than me??? Well I am very professional and get a lot of work. I get a lot of rebookings and lots of work from people who were previously spectators. I guess am just lucky. BEFORE when I was worried all the time I got little work and very little repeat business. Am I a top magician in my country? Hell no not even in my region. Nope, BUT I strive to be that. Aside from continually practising and tweaking things, my number one way is to learn, take "constructive critisism" and take advice off of others. But hey what do I know, I seemingly only want to settle for "2". I wont enter into anymore conversation about this subject. Good luck. |

The only complaint I have is that packaging needs to be refined immediately!
8 bills people can't use are no option by any means.. at least if you're not a world traveler. They are just blow up the price. The method works but the package will let you down. |

I think they got the package just right, to have made separate packages would have cost more to produce and would have been a lot more complicated for shops to stock.
The cost of the Tyvek printed in bulk would have been very cheap and would not have reduced the price much if at all to supply less options. What they should have got better was the notes values which are a bit high for the UK market, that's why we had a £15 note printed. I was out last night and performed this loads of time for people at tables and walk around, I can't believe the WPR review saying this was not workable they obviously have not built it and tried it. I took onboard an tip from Tarik and put a bit of repositionable glue on my gimmick just to hold everything in place and it made it far more secure and stable in performance. Split is back in stock tomorrow here http://www.saturnmagic.co.uk/new-magic/s......gue.html

Thanks Mark yes I use the repositionable glue for the perfect alignment and in answer to Rat you are wrong as far as I am concerned . I would never go to my arts and craft table and make this myself . I infact got Mark to make my whole gimmick for me and I even get someone to make my extreme burns even though I know how to make them all . If you are doing this stuff for real you want your gimmicks made well and I have no problem in paying the extra so they perform as they should as soon as I receive them . So please don't do other people's thinking for them Tarik 😊
