I'm really curious to what he'll teach. His first At the Table lecture was fantastic, but the second part of it was really disappointing.

Some great advice on routine building. There was a good mix of effects, a bit of theory, solid routines, etc. Just lots of good tips for anyone who is unsure of how to transition from close-up to stage without breaking the bank. Also some good talk an how Jeff got started in performing stage magic which was helpful to hear. The theme of the first part was fitting an entire stage act into a piece of carry-on luggage. Jeff said in the second part he would continue on that theme and show how to expand it further to make a stage act that would fit entirely in a check-in piece of luggage. Instead all he did was give a tour of his house, slightly expand on the same things he did in the first part (without any really important new information) and a couple of kinda wonky moves that looked okay at best. |

Jeff is fabulous and because of his extensive background at his Las Vegas Mystery School (which I've attended 3 times), I know he will have much to share generously.

I am waiting on reviews, last lecture was a lot of "seen that done by you before" type stuff, he may be stretching a bit thin on new stuff and needs to pull back and create and test for a while before going and presenting new lectures...

There's a video preview on the penguin site. Looks like a mix of old and new, but its hard to tell how much is teaching vs performance. That thimble routine looks pretty cool though . . .

Didn't catch his At the Table lecture but his International Magic Lecture around '98/99 is still the most useful and mind opening lectures I've ever watched, not for the tricks so much but everything else and the small little gems.
I've been a member of the café for over a decade and don't think I've read one thread on this lecture if there is please direct me to them. If you haven't watched it your missing out imho. Greig. |

I watched this last night. It was fantastic. I figured it would be mostly lecture and performance with a couple of tricks taught.
I was wrong. He taught way more than what I thought, including some pretty nifty manipulation stuff with cards and yes, thimbles. He also taught a very nice piece of card magic, similar to what was on the Magic at the Edge DVDs, but slightly more practical for those of us that don't always carry a Card to Wallet - wallet. Plus, the conversation and lecture were awesome. Always nice to hear from someone who really knows their stuff. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Oscar |

Greetings all,
One of my great passions is teaching magic. I have dedicated the last 25 years of my life to teaching and sharing my magic with our community. I think you will enjoy my lecture. There is something for everyone here. Four big ideas are covered. MAGIC FIRST- creating 1st impressions. AUDIENCE MANAGEMENT- techniques to enliven and energize audiences. MAGIC WITH MEANING- how to create effects that connect deeply with participants.. GIFT MAGIC-leaving your audience participants with a souvenir. Yes.. many of the ideas are the very fist time on video. Some "Classic pieces" that I have done over the years that are tried and tested…but I offer new insights and presentations. Mostly there is new work that is road tested at my nightclub WONDERGROUND in Las Vegas. EVERYTHING on the lecture DVD is "real world" material that I perform for my Las Vegas audiences and my Vegas shows, and world tours including THE ILLUSIONISTS. …. also, there are bits of advice, theory, philosophy and my experiences throughout the lecture. I offer many new magic effects, including: Flowers, Silks, Card Manipulation,Coins, Bubbles, Thimbles, Mentalism( time travel), and my entire Medicine show act! As you know,Dan Harlan is an excellent host, and he asks me very direct questions about our Master Class and Mystery School events. If you have questions Just PM me on Facebook ok! Im happy to help you. My very best to you, JEff
