Does anyone know where a good coins across, using a shell is written up? What book has the best handling, or DVD. Thanks.

Good recommendations from Larry Barnowsky (how could you go wrong with a guy named Larry?). Additionally, Jon Allen has an excellent handling on his video "Spectators Don't Exist."

Also, you might try a David Stone video, he uses just four coins, but by adding a shell and some variation on that type of routine, can add a lot of finesse. David Regal Close up and Personal and JB BOBO Modern Coin Magic are good references too.

Ditto for Bobo's MCM. In the Dover paperback edition, there is a lengthy albeit excellent routine called "The Peregrinating Halves" in chapter 12.

Mr. Bobo himself stated:

"If there is a cleaner, or more baffling method for causing a number of coins to pass from one hand to the other I have not seen it."

Mr Bobo said that LONG before David Roth or David Neighbors were doing their stuff.

And too bad he was not around in 87 to see the new look to the trick when it was first shown.

I really like Doug Brewer's from his Unexpected Visitor. He has a cure for the somewhat repetativeness of some coins across.

In my lecture notes, Nothing Up My (Green)Sleeves, I have a routine called "Above, Beside, or Below". It appears on my In the Trenches DVD as well.

My routine is slightly different from Larry Jennings' "Peripetetic Coins". This routine appeared in Genii Magazine.

Derek Dingle also has a routine.

Good luck in your search.

Paul beat me to the punch, but it bears repeating - the LJ routine from Genii, later reprinted in his lecture notes and in other sources, "The Peripatetic Coins" is a good starting point. I might add, LJ's routine is based on Milt Kort's material, some of which you'll find in, of all places, Bobo!

Best, PSC

P.S. Earl Nelson had a lovely routine using a shell, that is in the recently reprinted "Variations"...

Big OOPS on my part! I forgot to add that important postscript - that J.B. Bobo made that statement within the context of the content in his book and the generation of magicians during his time. But it's still a grand statement nonetheless! Smile

Check out the new Coins Across book by Al Schneider. It contains a routine using a shell as well as many others using regulation coins.

If using one ], why not use a few? How magical/clean can the trick look?
