I get it but it is performed (maybe intentionally) too quickly on the demo to see anything other than confusion.

Can the ropes be shortened or do they need to be performed with at the length shown in the demo?
How many magicians does it take to change a lightbulb? Regardless, for magicians darkness is a time for d'lite.
