I just wanted to flag this excellent book that has been on my shelf for a while, but I recently rediscovered the great ideas Page had with stacked decks. He liked to keep things practical and straightforward, so he focuses on Si Stebbins and Eight Kings. He's got some nice techniques and tricks. I think the hardback version sold out some while ago, but the soft-cover might still be available.

For non-Brits who might not know of Page, here's his bio:

Hi!

Thanks for the recommendation, is this recommended for mem decks too, like Mnemonica?

Thanks!

Hi daniel

most of the effects proposed by pat could be done with any stack if you know positions and sequences. though he remarked that all of his working career he had got by with 8Kings/SiStebbins.

The effects are mostly clever ways of presenting the divination/discovery of the spectator card. There is also a way to build a stack in full view whilst at the same time performing an effect. (Perhaps obvious to the initiated, but the idea had not occurred to me before).

The books is only partly cards - it covers the whole spectrum of magic. For many years Pat was a demonstrator at the legendary Davenports in London, so he was a man who knew what "tested" material really meant.

I use a Mem deck and I found lots of useful information that has come in handy and I have not seen anywhere else. If you don't use a mem deck Pat's work on stacks is invaluable. It turns a si stebbins or eight kings stack into a mem deck that does not need to be Memorized. So clever.

Gene Anderson's new book also has a great Si Stebbins routine.
