Any one have any idea what's up at the Cuckoos Nest in Pittsburg Pa. Just found this shop and I'm sad they are only open two days a week and can't take Pay-Pal or some credit cards any more.

That's horrible news. I'm in Pittsburgh once a year for business, and have been making an annual trip to the shop for over 15 years. I've always loved Linda, and I hope she and her family are doing okay. My thoughts go out to them.

The Cuckoos Nest is where I was bitten by the Magic Bug in May of 1995 (21 years ago) I know Tom the owner had some health problems but was doing better the last time I talked to Linda, his lovely wife, a month or so ago. I will try and find out from Matt a long time demonstrator at The Nest. They have been in business serving the magic community for a very long time. Many famous magicians have passed through their doors and I hope many more will again. I'm sure they could use our support at this time.

I received an update and it seems that the owner Tom, a Vietnam Veteran is very ill and at home with hospice care. Linda his wife and business partner is obviously with her husband, so the shop hours are limited. My heart goes out to them. They are great people and have kept magic thriving in Pittsburgh for so MANY years. The Cuckoos Nest is a wonderful shop. My prayer is that they experience God's ultimate love and peace through His Son Jesus Christ. Amen.

An update on Tom Peiritsh the owner of the Cuckoos Nest Magic Shop in Pittsburgh. Tom passed away on Saturday May 7th 2016 at the age of 67... so very young. Those of us who lived and worked in Pittsburgh were well served by Tom and Linda the owners of the Cuckoos Nest for over 40 years. While Linda ran the shop and Tom worked as a computer programmer he also pulled double duty performing all over the city of Pittsburgh under the stage name Tom Jay. Many times I would be at a summer concert or park event and there would be Tom's name on the bill. Tom was out there working all the time from kids shows to parties to local events but you would never have known that just talking to him. He had the quality of another famous Pittsburgh celebrity... Mr. Rogers because they were both were very gentle and soft spoken but most of all they both were always interested in what you were doing or what you were working on... they made the conversation all about you, not about them. Together Tom and his wife Linda, along with a great group of dedicated magic shop demonstrators kept the Cuckoos Nest open and thriving for over 40 years at 3 different locations... we Pittsburgh magicians were very lucky to have them especially in the age of the internet and the challenges of brick and mortar magic shops. If you ever ordered magic from The Cuckoos Nest over the years or stopped by the shop while vacationing in Pittsburgh "It Could Happen!" you can post a comment or condolence to Linda on the FaceBook page link below. There is not much anyone can say at a time like this but I think there is a comfort in knowing that their efforts were appreciated by the magicians they served...especially at this very difficult time. Yes, I too thank you for the update. I had not heard that Tom was that ill. My condolences to Linda and the crew at the shop. I have also been lucky enough to call Cuckoos Nest my local brick and mortar shop for many years. Very sad news, especially when we not only lose a friend in the industry and life, but that we lost another great veteran. R.I.P. Sir.
