I was watching That 70s Show the other night, and I remembered how funny I thought it was that they never reveal what country Fez is from. Also, "[We] were in a break!" from Friends never fails to Crack me up (Especially when Hugh "Dr. House" Laurie does it). Other favorites?

"They killed Kenny!"

"Newman!!!!"

And...lots of episodes of The Simpsons had inside jokes dissing their broadcast network, FOX.

My daughter loves to watch Psych. Each episode has a pineapple in it. We spend time finding it

"This is Carlton, your doorman."

The running joke/banter between Spock and Dr. McCoy in "Star Trek".

We have a tuxedo cat named Carlton.

But after another character on television, not Rhoda's doorman.

Leslie Nielsen's TV series "Police Squad" had two.

Each show would have a major guest star who would be bumped off in the first few seconds of the show. The rest of the show was solving the Homicide.

The end of the show would have Leslie Nielsen and his sidekick Alan North doing a hi-five or throwing their heads back in victory pose and then go into the classic freeze frame as the credits pass by.
It was not the classic freeze frame but rather the two actor's "freezing" themselves, which becomes evident when you notice the activity in the background. Great show.

The opening to the Dick Van Dyke Show would have Mr. Van Dyke coming Home from the office and upon entering his house, would trip over the ottoman that is in front of the entrance. Every once in a while he would see the ottoman and avoid tripping over it.


"One of these days ... One of these days ... POW! Right in the kisser!"

Funny, I recently read that the Lurch character was supposed to be mute, but Cassidy improvised that line and it stuck and they decided it to make it a speaking role.

Sheldon knocking ritual is priceless with how it is constantly evolved.

Hi Bob was just a cool drinking game.

The Murphy Brown secretary gag was interesting.

Simpsons blackboard couch gags are cool.

Good news from Futurama was funny.

And shut up Meg from Family Guy is a cool one.

Another That 70s show Feb runner was Good day....I said GOOD DAY.

My Name is Earl - Earls's eyes were closed in every picture he was in.

Wilson on Home Improvement was good.

Howards mom in Big Bang Theory was good.

You may have noticed I am a fan of the running gag. I use it a lot in writing.

Oh how the toilet flush in All In The Family!

I enjoyed the never ending stream of hobbies that Bobby Hill took up in King of the Hill.

Each one bugged the Dad more than the last.

Even funnier, I was thinking of Maynard G. Krebs on The Dobie Gillis Show. I forgot that The Addams Family also said it. I suspect Cassidy was referencing Dobie. It was fairly popular at the time.

I thought of Maynard too.

Another of Maynard's was his reaction to the word "work."

Not sure if this counts, but Gibbs always bringing Abby a huge container of something. I have to wonder if there's a running gag among the cast there too.
