I hate the way in the ad. it states 'no fumbling around to hide the method'
I've never seen anyone who performs the Gypsy thread well [Peter Samelson,Eugene Burger,Danny Orleans.etc etc!] fumble around to hide the method! but I do hope to read a review of it in 'Magic' or Genii' Maybe not in 'Vanish' magazine as they seem to love everything!

Obviously people who perform it well don't fumble. That's not what they're trying to say. isn't that clear? If not, let me clarify. It's simple for the average person to perform, those who normally would fumble.

I only knew there was already a thread cause I posted on it, and I only found it by doing a search of my own posts. Some kind of Forum glitch I guess, if anybody wants to notify the authorities. |

I read a review of this somewhere and it was less than positive. Can't remember where I saw the review unfortunately. From what I recall, the reviewer said the thread at the beginning is not really examinable. There were a few other negatives but I'm drawing a blank. In any event, I've been doing this for years with dental floss and it really is the perfect way to do gypsy. Self contained. Ten second reset. Always ready to go. Not sure what examinability at the beginning is really necessary.

Hey everyone, thank you for all of the comments so far regarding Aberdeen Thread. Some people here have been asking how this differs and what the benefits are of this version so here are just a few points that might help clarify.
The string can be shown in its entirety and the hands shown empty as seen on the trailer It can be done without prior set up - perfect if you have to perform for more people/tables than you thought It can be examined - Aberdeen Thread can be set up and then used to tie packages, luggage tags etc. and I have had it examined like this. Remember, although it can be examined you don't have to nor need to You can hand out the restored thread for the spectator to keep Easy preparation (no figure 8 etc.) or none if you go impromptu Set up all the lengths you require in advance so no need to reset during your gig and no multiple thread spools to carry around making it perfect for conserving pocket space in walk-around situations. I hope this helps, James |

So from what I'm reading it's not *totally* examinable. But if you don't have to p**m another th***d might be worth it. I'll wait for more reviews.

Clearly, y'all don't hear from me much, but I can't figure out why this topic hasn't blown up in the Café! As a magician familiar with a great deal of methods out there, this one has me flummoxed. How is it that only a few of us are? I've watched this demo over and over, what in the **** is going on here???

Its hard to say from the demo, but the review implies that none of the stated criteria is actually true, i.e they cant examine the thread and you are not left clean, also the cost is too high due to shipping, would be better as a download.

I absolutely love the gypsy thread. I've been performing it for years at parlours shows. It's an amazing effect and the reactions are beautiful.
Now this looks incredible. I watched the first time and I was fooled. I watched again and in still fooled. It has took me back to the first time I saw Gypsy Thread live almost twenty years ago and that is what got me hooked on magic. This is excellent. I have my fingers crossed for this. Joel.

I do two versions for strolling I do the Lonnie Chevrie Waxed version and for a more formal close up I do Anthony Asimov's version where the spectator cuts the thread. So there are methods out there there are just as clean and can be handed out.

I can only assume your post should have a winky smiley after it because you cannot be serious. If you are, you couldn't be more wrong. I've performed Gypsy Floss for years. People can see the thread, even in a parlor show and the reactions have always been positive. With glow thread, it can even be a stage piece.
I don't see where this effect really adds much to the trick. Quote: On May 5, 2016, Ross W wrote:
