Hello friends!
I've added a signed AC routine to my family show. In the past, I've only used it for older kids and adult shows, but I wanted to include it in my mixed ages show. The child keeps picking the only blank card in the deck, so I finally give up and have her write her name on it so we can "get rid of it already." Then it keeps coming to the top and all the typical AC effects follow. I've always produced the card from my wallet at the end, and as you know, it's a killer. But I'm looking for a card to something more appealing to kids. I was thinking the mystery card box, but I don't want to fold it. Any suggestions? A silly signed card to...? I'm looking to those of you who get great mileage from something you use for children. I'd love to benefit from your wisdom. Thank you in advance, everyone! |

Your use of a wallet sounds just great. Or you could simply produce it from your pocket. Alternatively, from a box or container that's been sitting on the other side of the stage.

How about the card to the child's father's pocket, or the mother's purse? They are the ones who will ultimately book you or tip you, so it couldn't hurt to include them and to the child as well as everyone else, it will seem impossible.

Thanks so far, everyone. I have TJs Nest of Boxes! I might try that. I'd have to roll the card? Make it a cylinder? And Randi, my kids have a bunch of those zippered stuffed animals. That seems worth a shot. They'll never miss one (or 10)!
And Jim, why not the mom's pocket? (Kidding ) I like that idea too. I'd have to really prep the guy. "Sir, don't panic, but I think you have something of mine!" |

Have it end up on your back. You don't find it, but the kids do.

Don't prep the dad; you don't want him to even remember you got close enough to put something in his pocket. Instead, tell the child to "look in daddy's pocket."

Frankie, you could prop a spring animal so when it comes out of a box the selected, signed card is attached to a ribbon around its neck. I have a Monster in a Box effect that does that (no, I am not selling it or trying to sell it in case some ask, lol).

Oooh. Jimmy. That's a great idea. Sort of a snake basket routine but not so complicated or involved. Maybe I'll look into Chance Wolf's Snake from Anywhere. What a great idea!
