You shouldn't need one liners.
If you get one letter wrong and they laugh at you, there's something wrong with your performance.
Reader discretion is advised.

Well not laugh at me I mean giggle....and by one liners I mean....like Atlas does eg "oh can you just say {insert wrong letter} for me out loud please" and then he continues with his performance

I agree. It could indicate that they aren't taking what you're doing seriously and just see it as a magic trick. People often laugh when someone who is apparently trying to "trick" them seems to make a mistake.
I'd also ask who these audience are. Family? Friends? Random strangers? |

Even though I am a huge fan of Atlas and his work, I am not a huge fan of PA (dunno why, they just don't fit my style). Nevertheless, I do think that he explains in his lecture (and he gives A LOT of examples on PAs) well enough, how to present PAs.
I mean, who gives a **** that you missed a letter anyway? Just pretend that you don't care. And then pretend that you are not pretending anymore. I had the same problem when I started with hypnosis...I was scared as **** about failing..."maybe this induction won't work"...but there is no way to fail really, be it in hypnosis, magic, life, whatever. The worst possible outcome, most often is a just huge learning experience, but you have to start of with the mindset, that you cannot fail. If you start off with the mindset that your spectators will laugh, well...then your performance will adhere to that and do anything to produce that outcome. As a side note: If you have a special question regarding one specific PA, you should post it in the accompanying forum on penguinmagic, so that other buyers of that lecture can discuss it there. Also at that place, it wouldn't be as public as here. |

Friends and family will often giggle when you make mistakes. But I've got to ask, how do present a thought-reading effect as if it's psychology? What psychological technique would you use tell you what letter someone is thinking of? I think you need to take a closer look at the congruence between what you claim and what you do. That will substantially enhance your credibility. Keep at it! |

Don't sweat it until you are in front of a paying audience. If you encounter those same problems then, well.........., you're in trouble.
In the meantime, enjoy what you're doing, learn from your mistakes, and make 100% sure that if/when you do perform a PA effect in front of a paying audience, the only laughter you hear is one of awe and enjoyment.

It occurs to me that how you think you are presenting a routine, and how the audience is perceiving that routine, are not always the same. It serves the performer well to make sure they are presenting what they believe they are presenting and sometimes the only way to know that is through direct audience feedback.
