I have loved this video that combines moving robots with projection mapping and 5 of the 10 principles of magic for years and years. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lX6JcybgDFo
I've seen a few bits that people have done with projections. Has anyone seen any work with projection mapping being done? |

I have seen a huge amount done with Disney and also worked with Marty Brinkerhoff who designs some very high level projection and interactive projection mapping. That video is such an amazing example of creating solutions and space that can only be perceived correctly tightly controlled eye of the robotic camera. Doesn't look alive is we would have to close when I move in the exact placement the camera is timeframe. On the other hand, when it's all put together and programmed in sync it looks amazing!

The camera movement is based on a person watching the robots and then they motion tracked that person watching then used a camera that followed the motions of the person who was standing and watching. From what I've seen it works from a wide range of viewpoints....now just to go buy some robots. I also just love to intersection of digital and real life.

I think the key is that it creates the illusion of a random person watching it and moving back and forth but the actual animation is coded specifically for the motion controlled camera's POV to create the illusion of 3D. If you were watching from anywhere else in the room, it wouldn't work. In fact, if you were watching with both eyes open, it wouldn't even work then. On the other hand, on camera, it looks spectacular!
