He who acts like the mafia is the mafia. Except when agents are undercover paying a role. The FBI and CIA conducted an investigation and said it found no links between ISIL and Mateen; which does not exclude the possibility that Mateen was radicalized by FBI and or the CIA agents posing as ISIL. Cases of agent provocateur, entrapment and the like are quite common as agents go about infiltrating these criminal groups. Mateen might have honestly but mistakenly believed he was a member of ISIL as a result of an undercover operation. It would not be the first case where things have wrong in undercover operations. Whatever the case may be Mateen acted like ISIL and therefore is ISIL.

This was a hate-crime, from a man insane, who was able to obtain his weapons freely. If a teacher in, say, kindergarten, had a student running around hitting other children with a wooden mallet, the teacher would take the mallet away from the kid...and at the least, put it out of his reach.

Great analogy! And if the shooter were alive, the police would have taken away HIS gun. Your kindergarten teacher wouldn't take away mallets from everyone in the country, or even the neighborhood, who WASNT going around hitting other people with them. We wouldn't undertake a nationwide ban on mallets.

On the other hand, if the next day all of the teachers' students walked in with wooden mallets on their belts, and some had a mallet-like bulge in their back pockets ...

That would be some bad optics! Of course, if I were a student in such a class, I wouldn't be hitting nobody with no mallet...

The teacher would not allow mallets in the classroom, hallways or playground. Mallets have their place. But not all places.

Over one hundred shot. He yelled allah Akbar while killing them. Claimed he was a jihadist raised by talliban parents in a mosque that has produced jihad terrorists before.
