The MIQa Box: Devious Deck Switch - by Tom Phoenix
Handling looks identical to Gregory Wilson's Coldcase, but seems like you can make this with tools at home. Welcome to the evolution of the MIQa Box 3.0, including the previous two versions. This box allows you to OPENLY and easily switch one deck for another, under the guise of starting to put the deck away or putting the box off to the side. It's a very natural movement, without the discrepancies of other devices. There are two excellent versions included. Both of them work very well, so you choose which one you like better. Two full applications are taught, along with detailed instructions on how to construct and use the device. Just so you know: This takes about 20 minutes to make, but it is well worth the time, and you already have the materials. As long as you are paying attention to detail and using PERMANENT double-sided tape, there will be no problems. http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/7067

Nice but what's with that cut in the vidio about? can the box not been seen on the table whilst doing the card routine?

This is the most examine-able deck switch using a card box that I have seen. It performs a similar function as Shin Lim's Flash Deck Switch and Greg Wilson's Cold Case. In my opinion, the move looks smoother and less suspicious than Flash Deck Switch. And you can perform it with spectators sitting on both sides of you unlike Cold Case, which has more angle issues. If you are looking for an on-the-table switch (as opposed to a pocket switch) this is one you should have.

One question. Is it possible to use that deck switch with two normal deck of cards, with all cards being normal ? That's how I usually use deck switch, so I need the deck of cards to be normal.

You will need misdirection and heat off your hands for that - it doesn't take long and is easy to do, but on video, it would become extremely obvious as to what is happening. The switch, however, can be done right in front of the specs. It may have been better to do a shuffled-to-ordered deck for the demo, as the intention was to show-off the switch, not necessarily the application. mh1001, yes, it can be used with normal decks (the ones in the demo were normal). Shuffled-to-unshuffled, red-back to blue-back, invisible deck-to-regular deck, etc. Clint: Thank you! A note on the angles: it can be done with people on both sides, but you'll need to be aware of where the people on one side of you are looking. I wouldn't say the angles are too much different than Cold Case - with some situational awareness and eye contact, you could do CC with people on both sides too. The benefit of mine is that you can show both sides of the box.... and it's half the price.... but his is made of metal, so that's a plus. And for Kevin Li: The handling is very close to Cold Case, but the device itself is very different, in that you can show the bottom of the box after the switch. Tom Phoenix |

Thanks, I think I may be willing to buy it. One last question : one of my problem with CC is that, like any other deck switch device, it can't be used as a deck holder or something like this. Before doing a switch, I obviously load the deck of cards into the device, and put it in my pocket before I start using it. However, the cards are scattered in my pocket because the device doesn't hold the card well. I don't really like that. I hope your device can do better in this regard ? It seems like it, but I need a confirmation.
