Has anyone heard about this pseudo ACAAN effect ?
https://www.artofmagic.com/products/any-cards-at-any-number A stunning feat of the mind, Jared Kopf's Any Cards at any Numbers will leave your audience stunned and take your reputation to a whole new level. Imagine, a spectator and yourself choose two separate cards. Then, as if by a miracle, you know the position of their selection, and they know the exact position of yours. An intricately woven architecture makes Kopf's effect absolutely baffling--to both laymen and conjurors alike. If you're looking for a new closing effect, or just a hard-hitting stand alone piece, you have to pick up Any Cards at any Numbers. You won't regret it. And for those of you familiar with Karl Fulves' work, Jared has streamlined and improved a diabolical method you may already know.

Dorian, I bought it but haven't had any time to fool around with it with cards in hand. If I get a chance in the next few days I'll post my thoughts on it.

The effect and thinking are good using a few old methods/deck. You will only be able to do this trick with the deck. In saying that it's nice to have the knowledge of how Jared accomplishes the trick but I'm not sure it will replace any of my card routines due to it being a one trick deck.

It's a nicely put together routine to study if you like the basic plot of CAAN effects.
But I won't use it because it's not straightforward enough for my taste. A CAAN effect is difficult enough to make interesting and entertaining but this one has too much happening before you get to the reveals IMO. They write down a card, you write down a card, they write a number, you write a number...the deck is being shuffled and cut, they're choosing either odd or even, etc. But having said that, it is not a bad trick by any means. It's just not right for me while others will no doubt find it very appealing. It reminds me a little of Brent Braun's recent Position Impossible, except with that one it's very simple and to the point. Someone picks a card, another person selects a number and boom, done, there it is. Now I realize that there is something to be said about building out an effect and adding layers and creating suspense and just basically putting more meat on it's bones, but in the case of this effect I much prefer a quick punch over a slow burn. |

Good words videoman
Here is the complete performance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSILLUf_iP0 Frankly I get bored very quickly with magician's videos but this one in particular held me in suspense until the end (and it fooled me as well although I have a couple of ideas on how it's done). A "card to number" seems to me like a "simple" effect; this one is a "complex" effect (many effects are happening). I liked it. It shows that Jared is an intellectual person and therefore an intellectual presentation goes well with him. I sometimes like to ask myself: "How would Tamariz perform this?". For a routine like this someone like Tamariz or DaOrtiz may take up to 10 or 15 minutes to perform it, without a doubt.

I am confused on what the question here is. Jared's effects are already thought out to the nth degree. What more do you want?

I prefer the second handling Jared gives at the end of the video download.
