What stack is this? It's in CHaSeD order, but it's definitely not the Si-Stebbins...

8C, KH, 3S, 10D, 2C, 7H, 9S, 5D, QC, 4H, AS, 6D, JC, 8H, KS, 3D, 10C, 2H, 7S, 9D, 5C, QH, 4S, AD . . .
Seriously? No kidding?

I'm perplexed as the cards are moving up in the following increments & then the sequence is repeated after each 13 cards
5 - 3 - 7 - 5 - 5 - 2 - 9 - 7 - 5 - 10 - 5 - 5 - 10

Explanation of -- and discussion about -- many of these stacks can be found in this free online resource. Those new to the art should find it useful.

I've been performing magic for over 50 years. I may have heard about the Eight Kings stack years ago, but have never used it. I've only used the Si-Stebbins on occasion, but always thought it looked obvious when spreading the cards. The Eight Kings is a little less obvious, mind you, there's still that alternating red/black/red/black dilemma.

Agreed. It's a stack that was fine in its day, but that day is long gone. There are contemporary stacks that are dramatically more deceptive, yet require no more effort to use.

Not sure if I should ask here, or start a new thread, but is there a name for this stack?

KC - 8D - AS - 2D - QS - (2S or 2C) - 8C - 5H - KD - JC - JD - 4C - 3H - 6H - 7D - 5S - QD - AH - 7S - 10H - 3C - 9S - 4D - 10C - 9H - 6C

...then it starts repeating, but with their 26 mates

KS - 8H - AC - 2H... etc.
