I have noticed that it is extremely hard to find a b***et pencil today. I learned about them in Corinda's 13 Steps the Mentalism but when I search for them I can only find Knifes and I can not exactly bring a knife out in every public place.

So my question is where can I purchase a B***et Pencil?

Thanks for the Help,
AE

Ok, first and foremost... Who are you?

Please, introduce yourself Smile

Many users, me included, would be reluctant to give any information to an unknown person.

Thank you, aevans-1500.

So you say you are a magician... Do you want to switch to mentalism?

Why are you looking for such device?
I shall see you on the other side.

Well I am a magician and I want to know more about mentalism so I can include that in performances as well.

And I am looking for a device like this because when I read 13 Steps to Mentalism it seemed like a very useful device to have for predictions and I know there are versions of knifes like this but you cannot always bring a knife everywhere and people will be OK with it.

It is very useful but you should make your own. Not a hard thing to do. It is also what people call "old school" so I don't know how that applies to modern performance.

I've never really felt that a pencil was a natural thing to use for opening an envelope. Does anyone do this in the real world?

Supreme had a ballpoint-pen version, but of course they went out of business years ago so I doubt if you'll find one.

I think even using a knife to open an envelope nowadays is a little unnatural. When I read 13 steps, I thought the gimmick you mention was a great idea and I'm sure it was at the time it was written. I personally would look at other ways to achieve what you are wanting.

I use a billet hammer to open envelopes.
Not on stage, just at home.

It would be a little weird now but it is still a good device and I was thinking a pen would be more natural even though most people just open an envelope with their hands.

Just a thought....why would you have a really small folded up piece of paper (billet) in a envelope that is relatively speaking much larger? Just does not seem natural.

Classic magic Café...

*Someone asks a straight forward question*

What? Why are you asking that? Let me ignore that and instead school you on this subject which I'm gonna assume, you have no idea about!

If that was typical of the Café, nobody would be here. Of course not all the replies will be what we want. Such is the downside of the freedom and anonymity we have online.
It's up to us to weed through the replies, use what we find to be helpful, and take the rest with a grain of salt. That's the whole idea of a message board.
We should be able to tell who knows what they're talking about after a very short time in the Café.
Besides, there are some great bits of information here. Especially for someone who might need to hear the opposite side of the coin, so to speak.

Guys just to let you know that me and Paul Mc Caig have been working for months on something very special that makes a lot more sense than a pencil without the security issues of a knife....more news coming soon Smile
