Anyone know anything about Nelson's Thunderbolt deck? I'd like to assemble one but can't find anything on the Internet...

To the best of my knowledge, Nelson only mentioned it once in one of his books but didn't describe it or explain how to make one. To me, it sounds like a redundant deck but it sounds interesting! If anything comes up, I'll let you know. Tell me if you manage to make it, I'd love to know more about it!

I suspect it was some kind of banked deck...

Do you have the original book or the PDF? There is an editors note that makes a pretty good explanation of what they think it was.

I did some "Magic detective work" for you all last night....I spent almost an hour researching my Nelson books & Nelson catalogs, as well as several Magic catalogs, and especially - Haines House of Cards catalogs.
I have the answer. Now, you can't expect me to just hand you the answer on a silver platter, now do you...Mmmm? You'll find the answer about what this deck is - among the 4-volume series: "Sensational Mentalism" (Nelson/M. Hades). "Thunderbolt" is a name that apparently ONLY Nelson called this deck, as cited in both of his Magic and Mentalism catalogs......No other magic catalog that I own lists a "Thunderbolt Deck". The deck is widely known by a much more common name (and is listed under this more common name - in the Haines catalogs). In fact, this deck (under it's more common name) is currently available from most all magic dealers, including Penguin Magic. Credit for the deck is Ralph Hull. |

I think Hull's best known and most used deck is the Mirage Deck...that would best fit the the effects described in Miracles in Mentalism, I think...

Then, again, it could be the Pop-Eyed Popper...

"The Glue hold us together".
"You know anything about Lifesavers?" RCP: Mmm, I'm confused! What are you saying? It's a "Roughed Sevgali Deck" (source: "Sensational Mentalism. Vol. #1)..Are you disputing that? |

I am traveling at the moment and working from memory but as I recall there is some dispute as to the changes to the Sevgali deck incorporated in the Thunderbolt deck.
Lets compare notes when I return away from the public eye. |
