Oh my. Is this sort of studio talk common?
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.--Yeats

I've encountered more than my fair share of narcissists.

Art Garfunkel isn't anywhere close to the top of the list.

It's clear to me what he is saying. The gentleman in the studio needs more nurturing. Was that you Arthur? 😁

Baseball is honest. You either hit the ball or you don't.

Maybe musicians should be more like baseball players.

I hear a thoughtful artist taken out of context.

Art Garfunkel is (or maybe was, I haven't heard him in a while) a wonderful singer. If that is what it takes to get him there, so be it.

Artists often spend an inordinate amount of time on the minutia from some people's perspective but attention to detail seems to pay of for Art.

What Mary said! Why the edited hatchet job I am left wondering?

It's not a hatchet job. It's just amusing. Nobody hates Art Garfunkel after listening to this (I listened to the whole thing) any more than we hate Jordan Schlansky.

Anyway, I guess nobody understood my admittedly esoteric reference to baseball. A good hitter spends more time thinking about things than we would like to believe: like which laundry detergent was used to wash his underwear, to the amount of toothpaste he puts on his toothbrush, to whether his left foot needs to move punatively or fertively or with windliness during the split second before cocking his left elbow 1.7 degrees upward when the pitcher's throwing hand moves from the projectile-infusion position to the semi-fractual release position when wearing his retro-away-game cap and Nike spikes.

A great hitter is an artist. We don't hate artists (except for Barry Bonds), we just make fun of their peculiarities and eccentricities.

Oh sure, some guys just go out there and hit the ball. Fiends! Fools! Reprobates! They probably can't hit curve balls, either. Could Jackson Pollock hit a curve ball? I bet he could have. Can Art Garfunkel? Could he look Clayton Kershaw in the eye and think about the fertility of his swing?

I bet he could.

Remember the end to S&G's "So Long, Frank Lloyd Wright"? Art is singing lead, but as he repeats the coda, "So long," Paul is shouting in the background, "So long already, Artie!"

All those who are narcissistic say I.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.
