Mine was accepted at the post office today at 3.10pm, the shipping label was printed on the third.
It's Media mail and at the moment it has no delivery date. I feel like I've been taken advantage of a bit. Can anyone who has had the book for the last month or so please tell me it's great and worth the wait. Even if it's not. |

Just seeing those words " for those who have had it for a month" make me cringe

I pre-ordered the book. It arrived today via Priority Mail (I live on the East Coast). It included the advertised bonus routine (paddle effect) and a link to some additional materials. I've started reading the book. So far, the first routines are all excellent. I feel my expectations have been met.

I received mine today in Florida. It included the paddle trick and a link to additional materials. The link does not work (404 not found). I emailed him to get that straightened out. Did anyone else have a problem with the link?

The link didn't work for me. I got my copy in the mail about 20 minutes ago.

Hi guys, I live in Sydney Australia, I too haven't heard anything from David regarding shipping. I emailed him about 2 weeks ago when I noticed Penguin already had it in stock. He replied saying the book would ship at the end of August.
I emailed again about 11 days later asking for any updates. No reply. I emailed again yesterday letting him know I wasn't angry but if I didn't hear from him within 24hrs I would have to cancel my order and order it elsewhere. Unfortunately no response. So today I ordered it from Penguin, knowing I paid about US$30-40 more was a little annoying but I preferred to have it quicker than wait for who knows how much longer. I want to say although we may all be a little frustrated with the lack of communication, we should remember David is one of the top children's performers in the world and I'm sure he's very busy juggling many things such as performing and fullfilling orders and family life. We don't know what problems may or may not be going on behind the scenes. We are frustrated mainly because we are all excited to read what I'm sure will be invaluable wisdom from a man at the top of his field and who has genorously provided the last several years of his experience to the magic community. In the future, I for one will still purchase David's products but next time I might purchase from the bigger magic stores. Thank you David for writing this book, I can't wait to read it. Cheers Martin. |

When I emailed David about the link not working, he emailed me back within 4 hours to tell that it worked for him. Four hours is pretty reasonable for responding to an email. Based on my experience and the comments, it seems that if he has an answer that is comfortable for him, he responds quickly. If he doesn't have a good answer, he ignores you. If there are problems going on behind the scenes (for example, if there were a worldwide cardboard shortage and he couldn't find a box to mail the books in), then he can say that, and let you know when he will mail it. That is better than ignoring the email. Being busy is not an excuse to treat people like crap and renege on your promises. |

For anyone looking to access the pre-order bonus downloads, David sent me an email response to say that his website is currently out of action. However, he has someone working on it and it should hopefully be back up and live by 11pm Eastern time tonight (or 8pm Pacific time).

Okay. Now that the order is complete and to be shipped I wanted to compare if there was benefit of ordering directly from David Kaye. Looking at penguin magic it would have cost me approx $110 cdn with all said and done. Timing wise I wold have gotten it sooner.
Direct purchase cost approx $85 cdn . So $25 approx savings. P!us there is the bonus PDF and paddle trick. Later delivery. It feels like Value wise it was better to purchase it directly even though it will be in hand later. |

Well, mine was received on Tuesday September 6, 2016 via Priority Mail and it came on schedule.
The BONUS Paddle trick was included. But when you get the paddle trick just take a moment and look at it. It has to be the worst made paddle trick ever. It truly looks like a 4 year old made the trick. The stickers that were used were not cut correctly and they were applied in a very sloppy manner. The PDF downloads worked fine. They were the instructions for the paddle trick and some bonus material that was left out of the book. The book is definitely very high quality and is very well written and produced. However, the lack of communication on David's part and the fact that this was made available to KIDabra and Magic Live first were very unethical of David. Yes I know he needs to sell copies but he could have shipped ours first. And I still have not received an answer from anyone that purchased the book at KIDabra or Magic Live to see if they received the book for $ 40.00 and also did they receive the BONUS material. If anyone has the answers to the above please let all of us know. P.S. The book is very well worth the money. I would have had no problem paying $ 65.00 for this book as long as I received it first or there were no pre-orders. Rodney

The book is great. It's certainly a monumental collection of kid show advice and routines. Didn't care for the bonus trick. I was hoping it was a silly wand or something from his known repertoire. Haven't read the PDF because there's so much to take in from the book itself. I'd buy again, I'd just buy from an online magic shop and not direct.
