After studying a lot of Gazzo and Jimmy Talksalot I decided finally to go out there and just do it. I found an in- and outdoor market in the neighbourhood of Amsterdam who were searching for streetperformers. They are open every Saturday and Sunday, and the people come there just to have a nice day out. I thought this is a perfect way to lose my virginity in the world of busking.
My first day, I searched for a nice spot on the mainway between the huge halls full of vendors. I put down a thick rope and had a bench behind me where I could stand on to be more visible. My set show changed a little bit after performing the first shows. What the people say here on the forum is so true, I had a lot of questions and by going out, they are all answered...just by the experience of standing on the spot. My set show looked like this: - Balloon Swallow - ACR - Mental Epic Board Although most people will way the MEB is not a good trick for the streets, this worked perfect for me as a final. Especially the triple reveal of your "mind reading skils" baffled the people. Just before I revealed those 3 things, I gave my Hatlines. After revealing I held out my hat and received nice hats. My first day I performed 8 shows of 10 minutes each and hatted totally 45 euros. The second day, I did about the same amount of shows and hatted totally 65 euros. I had a great experience and am happy with the result! Pics will follow later.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. I hope you enjoy lots more busking. Offhand, I don't know of any occupation/hobby where there is so much emphasis on the need to go out and do it. Maybe its to do with how scary it can be to take that step.
The presentation makes the magic.

Mr Blake. It's great to see you as a pirate! I hope you're well. Next year I will be heading to the Netherlands. I'd love to hit some pitches with you.
Mik, did you manage to get some footage? Joel.

Yep Joel, my girlfriend was with me and made a few shots while I was performing. I'll try to post them before I go to work.

Hey buddy,
Welcome to the 'pitch'! ("Mc-Kado",... now THAT'S an Irish name, if I've ever heard one!) "Top of the morn to ya lad!" It nice hearing the stories of birth, thanks for posting. I especially like the first foto(!). I don't know how many Toilet Wagons I've played next to, in my 'career-end'. In my 'book', ....you're 'knighted'! (We have a half of a Show, with 'Toilet Jokes',...... ,,..."Tell 'm my name. They'll give you a good seat." ,...."Don't steal the urinal-cakes!" ,....i'm degressing,... 😊) Willkommen Mc, ,...hang around and share some stories. thanks, gallagher |
