Does anyone know the difference between version 1 and 2? Also, do the owners of version 1 get version 2 for free (like Melt 1 and 2)? |

I hear that it is not too bad...

Do you know how different it is compared to version 1?

I don't know the differences, but just checked a couple of things with Penguin.
This version comes blank face red back bicycle cards, with no option to choose blue. You will need to provide your own normal deck of bicycle red back cards. You can provide your own normal deck and blank faced cards if you want to do it with something other than bicycle red back cards. Other than being blank face cards, there's nothing gimmicked about the cards. They will get back to me about what, if anything, version 1.0 owners will get. When they let me know, I'll post another reply. |

2.0 limits the amount of suits the spectator can choose from, even more then 1.0. And details a way to end clean.

Is it really an improvement?

The ad copy says 2.0 is 100% examinable. There were concerns raised in the 1.0 thread about that version not being examinable at the end, so if you are left with the specs chosen card and a deck of 51 blanks I'd say 2.0 is an improvement.
I don't know if that's the case as I don't have either version. I've performed my own version of this effect that allows for any card called for (including jokers if necessary) and ends totally clean. Literally 53 blanks and the named card. Obviously I use a switch, but it's served me well and means I don't have to limit the choices at all. If 2.0 is as clean but eliminates the switch I'd be happy to buy it. But if you have to steal away anything or start messing about with equivoque or other similar techniques then I'll most likely stick to what I already do.

I ordered this, and it shipped out today. Should have it in the next couple of days. Will give my review when I've had a chance to play with it.

I'm waiting for reviews to hit on this. I don't have the first one but it seems pretty clean as far as I can tell.

Perhaps it comes with 2 decks to avoid the choice limitations? If not it maybe an idea for those who choose not to use verbal forces.

Well, Roslyn stated, "But if you have to steal away anything or start messing about with equivoque or other similar techniques then I'll most likely stick to what I already do." So I would suggest Roslyn to stay away.
One deck is in play the whole time. RNK

Having just purchased the newest download (2.0), I'm not really sure if there's much of an improvement at all. In fact, I actually prefer the handling that Oz Pearlman presents in the original Colossal Blizzard. That said, for those unfamiliar with the effect, the purchase of the download does come with both handlings, so I'd say it's still a worthwhile purchase. You can compare merit between the way Magick and Oz present the effect and mix methodologies to customize it to your specific needs and performance conditions.
The only improvement Magick offers is a convenient cop to clean up the end of the effect, but I imagine that was a natural tweak many people were already doing. He also modifies the selection procedure a bit to marginally open the effect to a fairer ending, but the original (Oz Pearlman) instruction reduces the amount of overall procedure for a more natural-feeling effect. It's a bit of give and take, so to say that this is an improvement is a bit of a stretch. I would say it's more of an alternative handling with its own pros and cons; I would hope Penguin offers it for free to those who already purchased the original product as well as there really isn't anything new worth buying separately. At the end of the day, I was unfamiliar with Colossal Blizzard and bought it without any prior experience with it. Being familiar with Kenton Knepper's KK and Dean Dill's Blizzard, I essentially knew the fundamentals of what I'd be getting. I'm happy with the purchase and would recommend it to those who don't have it and are looking for an interesting blank deck effect. That said, if you already purchased Colossal Blizzard in the past, I'd merely stick with what you're doing and make your own adjustments to make it suit your own needs. You'd probably come up with the tweaks that 2.0 affords independently. RS.

Hey Tony, where is your version.
"The New York Papers," Mark Twain once said,"have long known that no large question is ever really settled until I have been consulted; it is the way they feel about it, and they show it by always sending to me when they get uneasy. "
