Thanks for the description Sudo. you've described this as primarily as a stage effect, or at least it is ideal in this environment, however personally I don't perform on stage and don't have plans to in the immediate future. When you say 'ideal', do you mean that in terms of presentation and dramatisation? Or is the term 'ideal' more in reference to the methodology complimenting a stage environment?
Tl;dr: can a close up performer like myself use the effect as intended, with it being practical? i don't mean to fish for methods, so a simple 'yes you can/probably best just for stage' type of answer is cool - Tomas |

May I ask just a couple of questions....
Do you need to do a bit of set up ahead of time or can you just grab unprepared business cards and a pen and go for it like AOK in realtime? Do you need an envelope? Thanks!

Wrong again boys.
This is NOT a Rosini idea. Has nothing to do with cards across. I know where you're going with that thought and you're completely wrong. You don't NEED envelopes at all for this. The cards could in fact even just stay on the table for this if desired. You NEVER touch them. Period. The envelopes are not integral at all. Should I have said the cards are sealed (by a spectator) in a safe instead? Geez. Yes, you can do this close-up if desired. I think it's wasted this way though. You won't guess how this works from the description. Trust me on this. |

Just set conditions, meet a few friends at Starbucks, sit down, be prepared, begin your performance, and once you have nailed the envelope on one of the walls and before you go to rest room (just tell them you feel a bit sick, but that you are back in a minute or so...) , just make sure that somebody keeps an eye on the envelope at the wall and that the personal of Starbucks isn't too angry with you due to the nailing action, you might be able to conclude your performance successfully Jan

Ok. So I just discovered Rosini DID use this method for a cards across method. I was thinking of an envelope switch idea that was developed around the same time was what was being discussed here.
Rosini NEVER used this concept for a Mind Reading feat though.... So this idea IS new. But now that the method has been exposed here, by name in fact, I will depart the Café. |

Why? Your idea IS entirely new in this context. It was used by Rosini in a completely different context. Who knows or knew about it (apart us)? It is VERY clever, therefore you should publish your routine! Jan

Old methods are revamped all the time and we buy. You liked all my other funny vids - I think you need to realize I post in code via videos a lot and let people figure it out eventually. Anyway, I hope you come back, and sorry if Bugs Bunny was taken the wrong way - but when you go look up some old Docc work, you'll get what I was driving at.

OK. I didn't want to be posting here again, but I feel compelled to because of the way things are going...
Look. I didn't join this place to make it worse. I came here to SHARE and try to bring a breath of fresh air to this place - to make it better. I have been a performer for over 3 decades with a large collection of original material, and felt I had something to offer. My health (as some have correctly surmised) is NOT good. There are reasons why I'm a particularly sensitive person. I am who I am , and I don't need to grow thicker skin. Not everybody marches to the beat of the same drum. I want this bickering to stop. Please. This doesn't do anybody any good. My reasons for wanting to leave are not just a direct result of what transpired on this thread. They are multiple. I did mention even the other week on one of my threads that I was feeling this way, or that I at least needed a break. Please stop blaming one another. Like anywhere, there are some really great people here and there is also the opposite end of the spectrum. I've dealt with both here. That's all I have to say about that. I will have a new website up soon where my work can be purchased (including The Invisible Hand!) and will be updated regularly as I get more of my material written up. Most of the items are just like the others I've shared here in the past - material from a professional repertoire that has been well polished and road tested, with the same characteristic thinking that very much defines my work. For now, please accept that I am taking a break, and please, let's have no more finger pointing ok? I do have some personal feelings about the way this place "is" sometimes, but that is neither here nor there. Thank you for all the kind words and thoughts that people have shared with me. Sudo |
