I was thinking of ordering a few of these decks untill I read some of the comments by Mr. Mike Kelley on this forum. These ARE just cards, right?

TheCaffeinator, why would you want to use these cards for ALL your effects. I think you are exagerating things a bit. Just my POV.

I suppose it's possible to design routines that just involve effects using the Black Tiger Deck. But why bother? I can do ALL of the effects I know with blue-backed and red-backed Bikes. That's no exagerration. I won't be able to do all the effects I know with Black Tigers. Efficiency and economy are issues, as well. I already have an arsenal of gimmicked decks and gaffs that match normal blue/red Bikes. Why invest in something which is going to make them useless? Why would I buy a non-gimmicked deck of cards that limited my opportunities for using it? What's more, why would I buy such a deck at twice the price of a standard deck of Bikes? I appreciate what you're saying, though. I've made some definite choices about what effects I perform, the style in which I perform them, and the tools I use. Not everyone has made those same decisions. As a result of those decisions, Black Tigers are just not viable for me. That's not the case with everyone. The Black Tiger Deck has an audience. I'm not part of it. However, I hope that my thoughts about the decks will prevent some people from making a decision they might regret. My first reaction to the cards was, like that of many others, was, "Whoa! These are so cool!" But then I stepped back and thought about what I'd actually do with them and decided that having cool cards was just not very important to me. And, yes, I still think they're cool. Ultimately, my choice to not buy the cards may well be more about me than about the cards themselves, although I do believe that there are others who think/work/perform like I do. I don't want to take anything away from Michael Kelley; he should be proud of what he's contributed to and the opportunity Brad Christian has given him; it's too bad that (as of this writing) he's not actually mentioned anywhere on the web page ellusionist is using to promote the cards (but someone else is). |

They are a novelty, and won't be much more unfortunately. Not enough time and thought went into them.
I agree with Dr. Jim. Mr. Mike's comments turned me off as well. I also agree with phantom. I'm losing my respect for the supposed "creator" and Ellusionist for his actions and words on this very board. Cardjinx |

Caffeinator, I understand your points exactly and brought up all the same stuff before the decks were created. Believe me, we looked long and hard at it. Your point is highlighted if you perform a lot of color changing back routines etc. The deck may not be for you, or - you might be able to work in certain reverse cards for some very "cool" negative image color changes or effects.
Others, who perform more regular effects, may benefit from using the deck as their regular performing deck. There's no denying that it IS a pretty hot looking deck of cards. I think that this deck will be an evolving thing. When white playing cards first came out there were zero tricks - the developments from that point have been pretty amazing.
