Looking for effects that have a movie theme. Especially those that allow you to decide what movies to us in the effect. Thanks!

Take a look especially at Jim Kleefeld's Classic Film Verite, and also his earlier Film Verite--featuring steampunk films.

There's a McCombical-type set of props available that involves various movie posters instead of jumbo cards.
It's called DVD Dissertation by Steve Schieszer. Julie |

I do use Director's Cut and the SvenPads in combination, Movies and Actors, or Movies and Movies, or Songs and Movies, a lot of different possibilities

You could take many preexisting effects and just give them a movie theme.
For example, Cassidy's "A Name and a Place" becomes "A Movie and an Actor." |

There's an effect in Annemann that is straightforward, and you can use any movies you want. Or movie characters or any other words in fact. It's "Horrors!" By Stuart Robson.
It might seem a bit old-fashioned, or "blah" on paper, but it plays big for the laymen. Have fun!

I want to say thanks again for all your help and information. It's been very helpful. I have to say "The Movie" by Gee Magic is Awesome and practical. They will be introducing their refills this month which will make it a perfect 10 in my book.

Another vote for Cinema Verite. Also Atlas Brooking's superhero and disney movie routines, explained in his penguin lecture.

I have made up a set of cards using Osterlind's ODDS principle and have combined this with some billet techniques to add another layer of deception. This has been completely frying my audiences. Feel free to PM me for more info

If you're interested in playing Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon, I used to do a propless effect for audiences of 50 or more that combined the game with a telepathic kicker. (The telepath was allowed to kick me if I guessed the wrong actor.) My routine is in my first ebook.

Another vote for Directors Cut. It's a good idea to change the st**k a little so it's not strictly alpha***ical. I just line mine up three lette*s apart, put G on the front and I never worry about revealing the method. I think it really is the perfect movie effect.
Another option is to set up a Sven pad or one of Bill Abott's wonderful Smart A** decks to for*e the movie of your choice. The right routine and movie choice can result in some powerful effects. David

I have been extremely happy with Directors Cut! It's one of those effects that I didn't think would play as big as it does. Been getting great reactions. Certainly one to keep on you
