Well it quite easy actually, once you know how it's done! You'll be able to do it too, but it takes years to master... But if you put your mind to it, there's nothing you can't do!

Seeing how he got you to come here and ask about it, my guess would be that he did it well.

If you are looking to join the field it might be wise to start with the resources for magic that are recommended on the "New to magic?" section.

Maybe we could get to know you as well? The section "Our New Arrivals" is very good for introducing yourself to the forum members.

I always look for clues the person gives, it only takes a quick glance. I do it all the time. If your wrong- simply say you are a good observer & you saw the name- it's still impressive.

Just take a guess. If you get it wrong, don't show the footage. If you're lucky, you can nail it in less than 1,000 takes.

I always say "John" or "Jane" (depending on their gender identification). If they say I'm wrong, I just claim that that was the name I knew them by in a past life.

Nate51,we don't give out method here. This is open forum.
Ask for secret on the first post is not welcomed, sorry to tell you the truth.
Start from buying magic book first.
And at least introduce yourself first.

It's a striking effect, isn't it? The best secrets have always been buried in books.
The secret of deception is in making the truth seem ridiculous.

Can you reccomend very good books? I've read '13 steps to mentalism" and "Practical Mental magic" by Annemann.
Sychou, you're right. My name is Michael. I'm from Poland. I'm interested mentalism. Sorry if I made mistakes in the spelling Smile

You could have a successful mentalism career with just one of those two, but as a beginner it is hard to appreciate them.

Do you have any knowledge of magic in general? If not, a good idea would be to start with magic, just to learn the basic principles of misdirection and presentation.

If you would have read 13 Steps OR PMM you would not need to ask how to guess someone's name.

A good book to start and grow with is Bob Cassidy's "The Artful Mentalism of Bob Cassidy Vol. 2"(And Bob recommends 39 books in this one) along with the two books you mentioned(Maybe ACTUALLY read them?). There are also a lot of suggestions in the sub-forum "New To Magic?" for resources for all types of magic.

Go read the basics and enjoy - if you read 13 steps then you should be able to do this.
