The glowing reviews of Jan's lecture made me purchase it. I've just seen his performance and it was absolutely incredible. Love
His stage presence. Seems like a stand up guy. Get his instead of Justin's. Looking forward to seeing the explanations! |

Justin's At the Table lecture was IMO a fantastic Magic lecture, great effects, ideas, presentations and methods
The penguin 'Mentalism' lecture felt the exact opposite, very procedural methods, long winded presentations. not great |

Basically, Pablo approached JM by telling him the lecture was not good and had ZERO value. That he was inexperienced, had bad transitions...and then proceeded to tell Justin that he stole one of his ideas...which, it turns out, Justin did not as the routine had been published elsewhere apparently (which Pablo admits)...not to mention Justin was inspired by someone else whom he credited accordingly. If anyone is rude in this case, it was Pablo for not only approaching a fellow artist in the manner that he did, but for then coming on here and talking trash about the lecture and accusing him of a non existent theft. Look at the text conversation and judge for yourself. Believe me, I get the hate on Justin. And I don't agree with many of the things he says and does, but in this case, it was an uncalled for attack. I'm sure my opinion is not the popular one considering all the hate JM gets but to me it is the correct one. Especially since Pablo has since apologized. |

JM,as the fanboys are calling him, should donate his fee from Penguin to the Bob Cassidy benefit and comp a copy to everyone who knowingly paid to watch his "lecture."

On FB I said sorry to Justin for approach him in a defensive manner. I let my emotions to take over, still I stay with my opinion.
Normally when "independant creation" happens you give the benefit of the doubt, but knowing Justin's reputation of unethical behaviour made me took that path, and it was not an effective one. My frustration and anger was not only in this, but also the validation that he receives by his unethical business, the objetive lack of basic Mentalism knowledge (how to do Equivoque, knowing the classic Kurotsuke routine, not knowing the name of "pencil reading, and other examples). He is a great magician for sure, but he doesn't have something valuable to say as Mentalist yet I believe. I know that he did credit, but when I ask him about asking Penguin to add credits to my routine and he said : "do it yourself". I tried to tall but he blocked me, so now I just stick with my opinion and move on. There are more interesting and beautiful things to experience in life. Besides that, my opinion on his lecture is just that, my opinion. That doesn't make it a "no value" perse, just for me and I am in my right to give critics as buyer. If I publish a routine, I need to be open to listen and to receive feedback.

I don't think Justin's response was very mature though (' go !@#$ yourself). I do bear a grudge towards Justin though , I am jaded from previous experiences. Once I commented on his post with a opinion different to his and he told me to go !@#$ myself too. I also lost over $100 in products I never received from him. He is rude and misogynistic, he should've sticked to magic ( something he was very good at ) but his reputation is tarnished due to his attitudes |

I haven't seen Justin's lecture and won't be... I did however see the live show broadcast on Facebook and it was horrifically bad. At the start Dan said that Justin had been working on "his" show for over a year... Well, if I put a year into a show that bad, I'd be looking for a new line of work. If ever there's been a case of a magician jumping to mentalism and failing, it's Justin. Frankly, I am dumbfounded by the praise some pros have for Justin. Maybe they were referring to his magic as I see no value in his mentalism.

I am confused... if the method was published earlier what right Pablo has to claim it was his version the one that Justin Miller copied?

I want to know how his lecture was ranking in the top 20 already and Michael Rubinstein's awesome second lecture only hit it for a bit. (I realize we are talking about two totally different genres coins vs mentalism but really??? )?

BTW, Penguin holds negative reviews for a while, but posts positive reviews very quickly. I rarely post a review on Penguin anymore for that reason.

Justin miller just seems to be an idiot. His ethics are terrible, his performance style is awful to watch and his new material is a joke. The quotes given must be from people on the payroll!

I bought one of Justin's effects once to see what all the fuss was about and I'd had some , ahem, "discussions" with him on here so admittedly was looking to find fault.
The effect was well taught and there were performances with specs who weren't drunk or in any way challenged that showed how well he could interact with people. Yes he's an over verbose idiot with some poor business practices but I'd struggle to agree he's a poor performer. |

Paul S Wingham ..
Whatever Justin Miller is, for you to say on your website that you're magical entertainment at its best, is at the very least delusional. MD |

I doubt anyone cares what I do. I don't sell things and not deliver. Which of the mere 15-20 gigs I do a year did you attend justin?

Alas, JM's in trouble again.
He's been badly beaten up. Reminds me of a down-at-heel character in Breaking Bad. Hope he can put the pieces together again. |

Seen none of your gigs, 15 - 20 gigs a year and you’re the best in magical entertainment, you’re accusing J Miller of not delivering, and on your very own website you’re falsely implying you’re the best . We both know you're not the best. Whats your policy if a client at one of your 20 gigs, says I don't think you're the best I want my $140 back Not great reading is it ! MD |
