I know they do lots of cool mind tricks but are they considered magicians?

Sorry. No offense; I'm new and you guys are kinda making me feel unwelcome. Besides, I was just asking if you think they are.

I can't remember the last time Siegfried and Roy did a "mind" trick, and I saw their show last September. I am sure you have them confused with someone else (Derren Brown?).
S&R are the two German Magicians who had been performing a *magic* show in Vegas since 1974. They have white tigers, among other exotic animals. Their show was a huge spectacle of theatre and magic. They performed big stage illusions like making an elephant vanish and re-appear, levitations, vanishes, appearances... They had a lifetime contract with the Mirage casino in Las Vegas… A Tiger mauled Roy last year on stage… He almost died… Barbara’s most interesting People of 2003.. One of the 3 biggest magic events of that year… Remember any of this? Are these the magicians you're thinking of? On a side note, if anyone wants to see S&R do a live singing and tap dance routine, singing about a hat and doing many dance moves, including the can-can.. You should get hold of their 1985-ish Television Special. Funny stuff. Roy looks just like Doug Henning. |

Siegfried is the magician, Roy is not. He is an animal trainer. They will both tell you this and have in many interviews.
Together they demonstrated the power of magic as a main attraction to many producers in Vegas and other cities. As to their mind reading effects, they probably do some, but they sure aren't noted for that.

They are entertainers. That's basically the bottom line. I don't know if there is a definition for magician.

At one point, I used to confuse Siegfried and Roy with Penn and Teller -- who are also magicians.

Don't feel unwelcomed.
I would consider Siegfried and Roy as magicians. There was a special shown on tv a few months back, and it was nice. I'm not a fan of stage magic (read: no knowledge of stage magic), but I do enjoy watching good performances. They put on a good show. |

Is this just a rumour, or is it true that Roy was killed by his lions on stage and that is why they haven't performed in a while?

Please read some news articles from various locations, hehe. He was seriously injured, but now is home recovering.
