Someone recently showed me this DL get-ready, and I was looking for the source of it if anyone knows.

It's done entirely with the left hand.

Basically you bevel the deck on the long side with the long finger and then you swivel it back with the thumb, and in that action you separate the top two cards with the thumb.

Then you can hold a break with the fourth finger or the base of the thumb.

The guy who showed me this did it very smoothly; it looks almost like he picked up the top card. The beveling of the deck is very slight; almost imperceptible.

If anyone can tell me the source/originator I'll appreciate it.

Thanks!

I think it's Expert Card Technique third edition, page 4.

Dear GreenKnight: Thanks for replying.

That one has a similitude but it's not the one I'm referring to.

The one I mean it's only done with the left hand (or right hand of course; the point is that it's made with one hand only).

Thanks

That's an interesting get ready, never heard of it. But the pinky count achieves the same end goal with one hand, with plenty of resources all over the place to learn from. And from your description, I imagine the P count is probably more versitile, with more control over how many cards you can "get ready"

It seems like you're describing a get-ready, not the actual turnover. Did the person explain it to you, or are you describing what you saw?
There are techniques for picking off the top two cards without a get ready. Maybe, that's what he did.

OP specifies this in his first sentence.

It seems like Lee Asher's diving board double uses a similar looking get-ready. You can see Mr. Asher's performance in the following link.

How he picks up two cards starting from 0:04 looks just like what you described.

Hey SimonCard,

it looks like that's it, unless there is another publication more specific, so God bless you, thanks!
