Has anyone purchased this deck (with bicycle design on the backs) and had trouble spreading the cards? The only thing I am curious about is stickiness of the cards, mine were really sticky and impossible to spread nicely. I was forced to treat them with soap (or fanning powder).
Obviously this deck, created by John Kennedy, was intended purely for spreading or fanning. It costs a lot, so it is clumsy to produce the cards like this, unless it was my bad luck. |

No, mine are the same way. I have heard that the older non-bicycle version does not have this issue.

Mine wasnt like this. I'd return them. Maybe just a bad deck or bad batch. Try ordering from another site in case the whole lot at the site you bought is old or defected.

I've got a deck of these in bikes and they spread fine as well. My deck was purchased about 5 years ago.

I and other mysterious magician bought our decks about 5 months ago in the UK. We both got clumsy, sticky cards, we even thought that they were fakes from China. They can be fixed easily by powder or soap.
It would be nice if they sold bicycle quality cards for that price though. |

Stevious, John's Mindpower Deck comes in bicycle.
Not sure which version you got. The bicycle edition I got has worked like a charm for years. |

Apparently it depends on the year they were produced, I bought mine about 5-6 months ago. Brutal riffle shuffling helped them a lot, but the cards still kept annoying me, so I treated them with cashmere soap (very cheap alternative to fanning powder). Now it is almost the same as spreading the classic bicycle cards on the table. Fanning is still difficult, but I don't need to fan them.
I don't regret that purchase, tricks performed with that deck are great and the cards are fixable. |

I've just pulled my old box out of the drawer. They've clumped together like nobody's business.

Again, this was discussed elsewhere on another thread.
The original Mind Power Deck produced by John Kennedy was not bicycle backed. This is the same deck Derren Brown used in his smoke routine. He put a bicycle backed card on top to make it appear as a bicycle deck. This is the deck that was better quality and did not clump together. Then they were produced in bicycle backs. These were the ones that clump together. I am not too sure if they improved since their promotion recently on Penguin. |

My original old-school MPD deck still works like a dream but the bicycle deck feels as if I've spilt something sticky over it.

My MPD is about 10 years old and still works fine (bike-backed). Had some great reactions when using the presentation for three specs.

I had the same problem, being bicycle weird, but now it's fine * developed a solution with this in mind!

I believe the stickiness is down to static. Take each card and rub both sides off a close up pad or similar, pop the deck back together and you will be sorted. I have fixed numerous "sticky" mindpower decks this way.
