I'm after a locking reel, the ring flite type not for IT, that will lock when the thread is retracted, ie, in the reel.
If possible I would also like it to lock when the thread is out although this is not as important as locking when the thread is in. Are there any reels that do this? Thanks, Ed |

There has never been a small locking reel that locks when retracted, except the take up Vanishing Bird Cage reel that is very large and straps to the wrist. Last known price $1,250.00.
Finger reels and locking reels use the spring tension to hold the line against the casing, but it will still move when pulled on, and will not support heavy items. There is a Key-Bak key reel that locks in both settings, but it is large and has a audible click when locked and unlocked. |

Thanks for the info Bill, really appreciate you taking the time to let me know. I guess I'll give up looking for something that doesn't Exist!

Ring Flight Revolution by Dave Bonsall. First line of the description on his website: "The Ring Flight Revolution is the first ring flight to lock in place once retracted, allowing the spectator to remove the ring, it is designed by a professional magician for professional use, it is smooth, silent and extremely durable."
Here's the website: http://www.propdog.co.uk/Ring-Flight-Revolution Best ring flight reel by far. Jim |

Hey Guys! Dan from PropDog here! The Ring Flight Revolution indeed does lock when fully retracted in the unit however this is done by the way that the line is rigged through the external keys on the gimmick.

I'm late as usual but the old P&L reels locked (if it had that feature, not all did) which for ring flight is great, once used there was no need to lock after the flight as the key case holds it as long as there is a "stop" in the case. Nobody makes a good ring flight anymore... big reels, zipper case, real ugly. Need a new version to fill this hole. Still make my own...

Jeduh, thank you for sharing your feelings. I don't know what you mean by whipping and zipping, As Dave says on the video, he explains the complete handling, it is not used in the manner, as in he was holding it and snapping back, he was demonstrating the power of the reel. There is a technique to use while performing, and he did not cover that, as that is part of the secret to performing properly.
It is not self working, much depends on the performer and his presentation. In the video clips of the performances, please list the timestamp where you hears the whipping and zipping noise. For me, I heard a lot of people talking at the parties. |

Search eBay for the ultimate reel! Around $12 bucks from China! Gr8 reel! Extract the nylon or steel thread! Whichever version you purchase! It will lock at your desired position! To reel in the thread just give it a tug! Love it! It's not always listed on eBay! Just have to check it or Ali express or alibaba! Btw the great part is it is quieter than a reel pull big plus! And the connector is strong and secure!

I did search, but only found a square black box with wire line. I have no idea what you mean by Gr8. There are many Ultimate reels now, the word is being used a lot lately. No nylon line listed.

I wouldn’t trust any $12 reel with a spectator’s ring. No way no how. I stopped doing ring flight years ago. But if I did it again then it’d be with a high quality reel with a surefire clip such as the ones Whit Haydn sells.
