Hi all
Is there anybody out there making custom balls for chop cups and cups and balls. I have a set of Leo Smetser baseballs and they are beautiful but the chop ball is very one sided which is a big issue (has anyone else had this problem). I've also looked at a Spanish website http://www.elcubilete.es/CUBILETE/CHOP_CUP.html which sells exactly what I'm looking for but unfortunately the owner is ill and has stopped making them. I have searched the Café and most links I have found are dead now. I have to admit to not being a fan of crochet balls so am looking for something a bit different, any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks drmagio,
Apologies, I should have mentioned above that I already own a lovely chop cup and balls made by Artrixleather. I'm looking for other alternatives as well. Thanks again, Michael |

I found a set this past week on the big auction site that are parachute cord wrapped around an old mouse ball. Well I don't know if they are old but they are the old style mouse.
I paid just over $30 and got four red balls and a matching white ball. This set is great I already love working with them. They have a great feel to them. The person I got them from still has a set up if you are still looking. |

Probably monkey fist balls. They aren't that hard to make. You just need some parachute chord (about $10 at walmart), some marbles ($1 for a bag at the dollar store), about an hour of frustration, and another 10 minutes after you figure it out. There are tons of tutorials on youtube.
Reality is a real killjoy.

This is the same set I got. And as simple as it sounds to do they are not as easy as that. When you see this set you will notice it uses a much smaller paracord which makes it much harder to do.
I thought about trying to make these myself but after looking into the material for them it was about a ten dollar difference just to order these. Truthfully I figured that hour saved plus the headache of actually doing the balls was worth the ten dollars. As I said I love these and I realized that when I do outdoor shows they won't blow away as easily either. Just a great product as far as I am concerned. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.vie......02926834 They look even better in person than in the photo. |

HI, I had seen this picture all over the Café but every time I clicked a link nothing happened (just went to a blank page).
If these are still available I would be very interested especially if they can be gimmicked for a chop cup. https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/image......V_bb291A Regards Michael |

As I said in an earlier post I cannot get these links to work. They just take me to a blank page which tells me theambitiouscard.com can't be found.
Am I missing something? |

I gave up on my computer and tried my mobile and the links work fine so who knows what's going on.
I've contacted theambitiouscard and hope to hear from them soon. Thanks for all your help. Michael |

I've made monkey fist balls out of leather thong (fabric store) wrapped around cork balls (internet). As Zach said above, they aren't hard to make, but a jig (internet or DIY) helps a lot.

Has anybody ever used steel balls covered in leather, knitted, or paracord. I would think the weight would be good and it could help you learn to be quieter.

I have been experimenting with different balls I have some knitted cork. But have been trying wood, leather and steel and even aluminum foil balls. Really just what I have around the house lol.
