I'm thinking of a different method to be able to make the pizza disappear, then a burnt pizza appears, then it's restored to a regular pizza that is given away as a souvenir in a pizza box. KJ |

I have been in contact with Rob regarding getting extra loose pizza discs with the pizza on one side and blank on the other for the placement of a sticker with our information. He said they have discussed this at the beginning but haven't followed up on it. They have no plans right now to offer these but said he'll see what kind of response they get as to whether or not to offer them. Still hoping they will provide them at a reasonable price.

I have just got the pizza paddle and am really enjoying it. The extra pieces lend themselves to adding a one coin sequence ala David Roth - all it needs is a bit of double sided tape.
I'd like to make one of the pizzas into a bitten coin. Any ideas how to make this so that the cut is hidden? Joe |

That's a great idea. But I believe that would take some real special equipment. The bitten part would more likely have to be done with lazer cutting. The groove around the disc would be difficult also. However, with todays technologies there might be some inexpensive way to do it.

Then stick the image to one piece, cut it with an exacto, then stick the second half to the other piece. Make the edge cut with a dremmel, place the rubber band on it, and there you go! KJ |

First, if you already have a standard bite coin I'd try just sticking a cut out circle with bite piece onto an existing bite coin using double stick tape.
It could just be made out of stiff cardboard or chipboard. If you laminate this it will last a good long time if you are reasonably careful with it. The pizza would probably be a little larger than the coin but with a little experimenting it might work. Or another simple way if you have a piece of dental dam or elastic thread handy is to try making it similar to a flap card. I would think the pizza design could really hide the joint so the bitten pieces may not need to "fit into" each other. The bitten piece could just be a small flat piece behind the bite cut out if the material isn't too thick. There are several other easy ways to do this as well I'm sure. |

Interesting ideas - thanks. I think I'll see if I can find some plastic small pizzas that are the same size and play around with them to see if I can make a bitten coin/pizza.

Title: Pizza Paddle
Creator: Rob Thomson Publisher: Amaze Kids MSRP: $ 25 Skill Level: all DVD Run time: 11 min Type of effect: kid's party / food magic Manufacturer's Write Up: One of the biggest challenges for kids magicians is finding powerful CLOSE-UP effects for children. The Pizza Paddle is the newest, best solution we've ever seen. With nothing more than the simple paddle move (learned within minutes on the instructional video) you'll be able to interact with kids up close - in a way you can't achieve in a platform show. Best of all, the trick is themed around a subject every kid loves: PIZZA! Did you ever see a giant pizza paddle used in Italian restaurants to pull large pizzas from hot, brick ovens? Imagine a miniature version. Now imagine that you show both sides of the 4.5" paddle, give it a shake, and make a tiny and oh-so-cute pizza appear. You can "remove" the pizza and "eat" it, or you can make it vanish and reappear. Best of all, creator Rob Thompson has devised a way for you to visually take it right off the paddle and hand the spectator a silver dollar-sized pizza. The Pizza Paddle and the dollar-sized pizzas that come with it are "Made in America" to AmazeKids' exact specs. The paddle handles like a dream and you can do lots of coin moves with the tiny pizzas. Check out the trailer and see some of Danny Orleans' ideas. You'll also see a live close up performance by Rob Thompson in the restaurant where he works every week. This is a practical paddle trick for the working pro straight from the repertoire of professional restaurant magician, Rob Thompson who specializes in close-up family entertainment. Kids love pizza. Their parents love pizza. So you know they're going to love the routine you create with The Pizza Paddle. How accurate is the ad copy? Accurate What's in the box? You get: - The solid wood 4.5" long pizza paddle - Two pizza coins - Video instructions which include, studio performance, explanation and live performance footage Key points: this is great for the walk around restaurant magicician How are the production values: Well shot, well mic'd and no distracting background music. Camera follows performer to get every good shot. Is it well made: Very well made, made from wood and hand painted. Is it well taught: Rob goes over all the ins and outs, perfect for anyone who is already well verses in the paddle move My thoughts (what I personally liked/disliked): I liked that this makes the paddle trick more accessible, looks a lot better than a sparkly stick Storage? Does it "pack flat?" very compact, perfect for strolling Does it "play big?" plays big with kids Difficulty / Skill level required: very easy How much arts and crafts are involved? none How practical is this in the real world? (can it really be done?) Very practical Overall score: let's toss out the traditional score of 1-10 and make this something that we all can appreciate and understand. X Very Satisfied _____ Somewhat Satisfied _____ Neither Satisfied or Dissatisfied _____ Somewhat Dissatisfied _____ Very Dissatisfied _____ No Opinion Finally a paddle tick I'd love to carry . + Hey do you want to see my full review with even more of my opinions and ideas?
